And thats the point: Every console ever produced (demo station, dev kit, presents to journalists and also repaired PS2) cout towards the 160.6 million). Dev Kits are not sold to costumers, demo stations sure as hell not for reasons i explained multiple times. Presents to journalists, ok maybe i can see this but repaired PS2s reshipped have to be subtracted from these 160.6 million. So far less than 160.6 milllion PS2s have been shipped.

Edit: Initially I read your comment incorrectly. Anyway, to the point, I don't see why a fixed PS2 that is resold by Sony in some capacity couldnt count for a shipped unit when Sony themselves state on the exact same page as the PS2 total number shipped that they include refurbished units in their shipped totals. So are you arguing that, say, the PS4 total shipped number is incorrect too?

I don't think dev kits count as a produced PS2 unit. I would imagine they would have some other category for that.

IF this number is true, 160,6 million IS the final PRODUCTION number wich includes every Playstation 2 that was ever produced. No matter if shipped to stores for costumer sale or for demo purpuses. Dev kit? Ok we can argue about that, but a demo station is a PS2 thats made for gaming, o it is counted for sure. But as we already know, shipped demo units get sent back to Sony after its life span so they cannot be counted as "shipped to stores" let alone "sold to costumer". But i am absolutley convinced Sony included this number in their 160 million number. We also have to take into account that some Demo PS2s broke and had to be replaced (because fixing was not possible in every case!) So every replaced demo station is also a produced unit. And you can be sure that was not a rare case at all!! IF they really included refurbished numbers, their final shipment to stores number must be even smaller. You understand what i mean? 160,6 million PRODUCED is one thing, 160,6 million SHIPPED is another!

I'm not saying 160.6M produced = shipped. I honestly don't know how that was miscommunicated, but the intent of my argument is to show that you can ship 160M and still produce only 160.6M. This was to counter the idea that because Sony shipped over 160M (confirmed by Sony) that they must have produced 170M+ PS2s. I think the produced number of 160.6M can be accurate AND the shipped number of over 160M can be accurate at the same time.

I'm saying demo units don't have to make up millions of units, refurbished consoles can count towards shipped, and dev kits may not be included in the total amount produced at all. All of this is to show how 160.6M produced can still be accurate given what we know about shipment numbers.

And thats where i doubt it. Sure 160,6 million could be the final produced number but we do not know for sure, i don't care about laydon indirectly confirming buy moving his head up and down in a random podcast because of obvious reasons. A guy who printed a fantasy number on his private PSP (exactly a million above GBA's LTD shippment) and "announced" it 10 years after discontinuation can not be trusted. IF that was true it was also the PRODUCED number. And there where over a million demo stations (PSP, PSP 3000 and Street PSP), presents to journalists... Their final shipment sure as hell is below 81,50 million. But its about the PS2 here. Its not impossible that they rounded up to 160 million and added "over" because it looks better and they want to prevent the Switch of coming close. I am by far not the only person doubting these "numbers"...

Well, that Sony webpage did only say “over 80” with regards to PSP.

"Over 80 million is not 82,51 million. That would be "over 82 million".

PS1= " over 102 million"

PSP= "over 80 million"- why not "over 82 million?! Because they know themselfes its a lie.

If Switch gets to 161 million it will be King, Queen and Emperor!

No! Then Sony will "announce" 165 million PS2s after a youngster found 5 million more PS5s next to Michael Jackson's hiding place where he is still playing videogames with Elvis Presley!🤣😂 I am quite sure that Sony has an own departement where they invent these lies...😅 There was a Story about ET bringing an aditional 2 million to match this wishfull number from reddit but it was canned because ET did not want to work with liers. 🤣😂

Well I gave you all my reasons. If you don't agree that's fine.

This image below confirms that the Switch only needs to sell past after 160.1m units because Sony themselves are listing on their website that the PS2 sold more than 160.0m. And as you can see with other console numbers, if the PS2 sold 160.6, this would be listed as 160.6 and not 160.0. Source: https://sonyinteractive.com/en/our-company/business-data-sales/
