Welp, so much for those ampere figures.
I had thought that maybe they could be reliable for at least PS5 numbers.

Maybe they're lowballing a bit but Sony projecting 2 Million PS5's for Q4 is abysmal. It will be interesting to see what FY22 projections are, an IR report last year said Sony was aiming for 22M - 23M+ PS5's sold, but at the moment it looks like they may have even less stock than last year.
On a more positive note, they've reached an all time high of 48M PS Plus members, and software sales for FY21 so far are looking stronger than pre - pandemic levels.
Edit: Sony expects the PS5 to cover the gap between the PS4 over time. Hopefully that means PS5 stock will improve significantly throughout FY22. I'm not trying to grind on the Internet to purchase a PS5 lol.

There's still lots of time for the PS5 to outsell the PS4 lol.
A few interesting tidbits:
- Digital sales for 2021 are at 68%
- SIE expects to launch 10 live service games by 2026
- Q3 FY21 is Sony's largest revenue for any quarter ever (26.6B)
- Q3 FY21 is Sony's largest operating profit for any quarter ever (4.1B)
- Sony confirms their targeting IP's for acquisitions
A bit of a disappointing year for SIE but overall a very good year for Sony.
Oof, 2.5 million down on PS4's 2014 holiday quarter and now behind Nintendo Switch launch aligned despite having that extra holiday.
Shortages were even worse than expected.

2 years are going to be down the drain though, and PS4 sales only got better as time went on. Stock issues don't look to be resolved anytime soon, so it is not like Sony can produce 30m PS5s to make up for the lost sales in a future year.
Three million behind now I agree may not be a gap that’s not fixable for PS5, but I also agree that if this year is also “bad” it is going to be a very tough task for PS5 to beat PS4 because the latter had such a consistent life. PS5 would either have to live much longer, or have considerably better peak years. I don’t see why this would happen, and that’s also without considering increased competition from Microsoft.
Shortages are really screwing Sony. I wonder if this will just make sony extend the amount of time before we even see a PS5 slim and/or even a PS6 in the future. I know they can't be happy having basically 2 years of restricted sales numbers (and likely to continue past year number 2)
