Not really sure, tbh. I've only used the Dual Sense once or twice. I do own a customized Xbox Series controller that I use for my PC, which is really comfortable. I always thought the One controller was more comfortable than the DS4, but I haven't been able to compare the Dual Sense for enough time to really claim either or |
I have the elite 2 for my PC and I've own ps5 for 7 months, and switch pro controller for 4 years.
Elite 2 is vastly the superior controller due to back paddles, great vibration, great battery life, perfect thumbstick positions etc
Switch pro controller comes in second place, very comfortable, great battery life, poor vibration, great thumbstick positions.
PS5 controller comes in third, is is still much better than the ps4 controller, and I love the adaptive triggers, but the controller has some issues, battery is nowhere near the other 2 mentioned (but much better than ps4), I don't like the left thumbstick in that position, especially on games that you mostly move forward it will feel like your thumb wants to be more up, like is going to slip. I kind of fixed this with Kontrolfreaks, still not perfect. What surprised me was that this is the first PS controller with good build quality, it hasn't creaked or anything, unlike the ps4 and xbox stock controllers. To be honest I don't like the shape of the new stock xbox thumbstick, feels like my thumb is sinking into it too much.
Another thing I hate on ps5 controller is the micro button, I press is sometimes trying to power on the console, the power button on it should be bigger, there was no need for a micro button, also I never liked the position of the menu and share buttons, way better positioned on the other controllers.
Fortunately they also fixed the led light, it was a major complaint of mine last generation with the light reflecting on my TV becoming distracting, now its facing up so it doesn't reflect on the TV.
I hate that the micro has to stay on, when you switch it off you get a bright orange light on it. Also the speaker is pointless, I use mostly headphones so I have to remember to disable the speaker on the controller, also they should have got rid of the touchpad, most games don't even use it. Its good as a map button, maybe it should have just been an extra button then.
With all that said, back paddles should have been stock for the next gen consoles, I struggled to go back to pressing L3 to run, its so much worse than just pressing back paddle.
I also think the new vibration is overrated, at least its not as bad as on the switch. In some games its actually distracting instead of enhancing the gameplay. Its as if they want to show the tech so they exaggerate with it.
I find the smaller shape of the xbox and switch controller also more comfortable for long sessions as you don't need to stretch so much to hit R1 L1.
With that said I believe this to be by far the best PS controller and now that I got used to the Kontrolfreaks (took a couple weeks) its really great.
