Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sega should not make a console comeback at the moment (amico/Atari VCS)

They should never do it. Even if they had pockets as deep as MS. What made SEGA special then is not what they would sell now. SEGA would just be making another Xbox or PlayStation-like console. Same Assassin's Creeds. CoDs. Maddens. Same shit everyone gets. SEGA would be trying even harder to tap into the typical AAA market. People who say they want SEGA back in consoles want a long-past era to come back that can't.

The other option is we made this Android thing in a box it plays old SEGA games and some other shit. That market is trash. If I could making the industry like the 90s again I would but in order for SEGA to come back money aside they would have to be just like everyone else and either Sony or MS would need to drop out to prevent oversaturation.

I was hoping the new Earthworm Jim would be on Switch anyway. Keeping it exclusive to Amico was a mistake, considering what's going wrong with Amico.

It's not being made anyway. Aint shit has been done on that and likely won't.

It might have a chance if they actually went full-stop, balls to the wall. And by that, I mean have the thing in actual stores as well as Amazon etc. and throw the same amount of market tenacity behind it that they did for the Sega Genesis and Dreamcast.

if anyone buys them out, nintendo ironically has the best shot of making it work...

Based on what? What's makes Nintendo's strategy more viable for SEGA?

They could get actual good Sonic games lol

The comparison with Amico/VCS isn't valid... SEGA as a company still exists with employees actually producing games. Atari and Intellivision do not - they are just brand names anyone can license for t-shirts, casinos, hotels, etc.

Sega without their arcade roots, I´m out. Sega force was the arcade roots, likewise Nintendo. A dedicated Sega videogame needs this for good market performance. Agree with you, another dumb down PC in the market it´s not a good option for Sega.

Sega isn't making another console, when they moved to software only they got rid of all hardware development stuff. They would be starting from zero on that and I don't think they are interested.
