And yet 3.5x more people actually bought the X1 over the Wii U, while the Wii U, with its BoW and its MK8 in all its glory, didn't manage to convince 20% of the previous owners to go out of their way to buy the system.

It is actually fascinating to read this thread; people tend to focus so much on what a platform can do that they ignore what it CAN'T. I mean, there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of games that you CANNOT play on the Wii U. I mean, you cannot ask to a CoD, FIFA, AC, or a GTA fan what is their favorite console and seriously expect them to answer "they Wii U".

I thought at this point it was obvious that only the most hardcore Nintendo fans saw value on the Wii U proposition; heck, at this point it should be obvious that not even many hardcore fans saw value on it

I have no idea why this post is formatted this way but I own a PS4 and a Wii U. I also found zero reasons to own an Xbox One. They canceled the only 2 games I want on that console. Wii U loaded me up on exclusives during that time and PS4 had all the 3rd party esp Japanese games. Now in 2021 I just need Xenoblade X ported to Switch so I can unplug the Wii U. About the only reason to keep it now.

Of course a lot of people didn't find a reason to buy a Xone, the same way a lot of people didn't find a reason to buy a PS4, and the same way A LOT of people didn't find a reason to buy the Wii U.

Come to think of it, Wii U also scores points in my book for allowing me to play with the Wiimote + Nunchuk in some games; that was how I played titles like Black Ops II and Pikmin 3, and to me this is a far better control setup to what Xbone offers. I wish more of its games supported this though.
