Forums - Gaming Discussion - Doki Doki Literature Club is getting a retail release.

This caught me off guard. The free to play visual novel "Doki Doki Literature Club" is releasing for PS4, PS5, XBOne, XBS and Switch, and that will include a retail version. This new version will include extra content and side stories.

I wonder how will this do. I imagine this is quite a niche product, since it is a paid version of a product that is already free to play. But considering how popular DDLC became at release, maybe it will do nice numbers?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

That's a damn late release for a game that is pretty much ruined if you see any spoilers before playing.

I assume it's mostly for fans who already played it.

I'm 110 % getting it.

I imagine this was inevitable. If the game hadn't had time to become popular, the chances of getting a retail release at all would have been null.

Hopefully will get my hands on retail release for this one. I've played this game around the release. Definitely as others say, it's getting this rerelease simply for the fans and with the intention to bring it to consoles (has been PC only before). Definitely if you know the main twist it's not as interesting to play as going in blind.
