Justice is always Right... Oh wait... that was Wright...

You missed out the IGN score

However, as I have stated on other thread the "very scary" positive you have listed, is a very large negative for me

I really did enjoy Bioshock but it was way to repetetive in my opinion, both in level design, enemy design and "boo factor".
The "scary elements" get old rather quickly, as is the case with most "scary" games (FEAR and Undying say hello), but luckily there is a quite solid FPS at the core of things.

The good:

Good story, told in an iteresting way at times but the setup of major plot bits being summed up and explained in recordings seems overly convenient.

Awesome visuals and art style

Terrific sound (honestly, the best bit of the game is the sound).

The bad:

Repetitive, you'll have met most types of enemies and seen most variables of locales after 3-4 levels, which is barely 1/3 of the game.

"Boo factor" gets too obvious and tired fairly quickly, not as bad as FEAR but not much better either.

Difficulty, when you get some of the weapon upgrades, you'll be literally unstopable. The Big Daddy's will fall like pebbles in a rockslide and the very, very predictable AI will yield little to no challenge outside of the overly difficult bossfights. Difficulty is too unbalanced imo, they could've made the boss fights a tad simpler and the rest of the game more difficult instead.

Lack of "Revolution"; they promised us a revolution in gameplay, which was never delivered. You do not depend on your powers (besides the instances where the story forces you too, much like the NANO suit in Crysis) and can fairly easily depend on brawn alone on most levels. Games like Psi-Ops and Clive Barker's Undying, Hexen and Heretic had these ideas ("superpowers") years and years before Bioshock. That said; in Bioshocks defense, it has refined it a great deal.

I would recommend this game to any shooter fan without a moments hesitation but I would like to prepare them for a letdown if they're expecting a revolution, "the best FPS ever made" or both!

Lol...if a game sucks and stills gets 8/10, then u know its a damn good game...

BioShock was dull and boring. It was way too easy. I rate it 6 out of 10.

tried it and didnt like it, traded back in

but its a highly rated game, that you can pick up cheap now mabey -£20

so isuppose its worth a shot for someone who wants a shooter but with a deeper storyline, you could say it has rpg undertones
