Forums - Nintendo - IGN gives Mario Kart Wii 8.5.

If Kevin Van Ord gets the review job, we're golden. He lika-da Wii very much.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

8.5 is good considering it probably deserves a lower score. 7.5 out of 10 would be fair.

My opinion is worth more than yours and I say you are completely wrong.

I agree with that statement, actually.

8.5 I expected from IGN. Great score, imo. It might deserve more, but they have to cover their own asses after they said it sucked so bad in the previews.

And what about the "6" from the Edge?

The awful part of this first scores is the nonsense trend that start poisoning another media's reviews,It's more easy for this (sometimes biased) reviewers give a low score after someone did it before them, hopes this will not affect the people's perception.

8.5 sounds about right.

It's in line with other reviews.

Good, but not too good, definitely not AAA.

When AAA started, it was 8.5 and up, actually.

That said, the PS3 doesnt' have a AAA exclusive yet.

In fact, the PS3 only has 3 games with over a 90 average rating, and they are:

CoD4

Oblivion

Rock Band

All multiplats.

The Wii has 4, 2 exclusives.

Sure, I'm cherrypicking, but read my whole post before you comment, Kratosboys!

My point is, games are based on individual tastes, not average review scores of 90 or above.

So, this may very well be a AAA game to most people. Especially if you consider popularity, sales, and yes, mostly above average review scores, as an indication. Classically, this was not the case, but recently, here on VGChartz we have debated what makes a AAA title for a system, and all of those factors do figure in, we decided, and I think they do, so I'm gonna say that the .5 points in the IGN review, making the difference between AAA and AA, shouldn't dissapoint anyone, nor should it prevent anyone from buying the game.

Your saying that because an early reviewer gives a low score(actually average for Edge) that it poisons the well? Especially for reviewers who are already a little biased against the Wii and Mario Kart in general?

Can't argue with you there. The only thing that keeps fanboyism from running rampant in review articles is fear of no longer being credible.

However, I dunno if that's the case here. I think there have been way more positive reviews than negative ones.

The only thing below an 8 so far is Edge. I can live with that, honestly. 8 and up can be described as "great." The game is great. It's epic. Is it RE4 epic? No. But still epic, and the review scores actually show that, imo.

Not against you, just about ideology of the AAA title encompassing more than simple review score.

Also, interesting fact, AAA started out meaning 8.5 and up.

Ahh, okay. Carry on.

I still think AAA is 9.0 and above though.

the "AAA" rating was either made by a deluded fanboy or by reviewers to make you believe that acknowledging their review scores was worth while. I don't think Mario Kart deserves anything above 8.5% if we're going to try review it objectivley (which is impossible) -No much graphical difference from predeccesor-Not much difference in gameplay from Nintendo 64- Basic online (in comparison to PS3 and 360 titles)  Some may argue if it's not broken why fix it ? I respond if it's not broken why buy the f*ckin sequel.

Very rightful review in my opinion
