Fortunately my gf downloaded all of our purchases to her PS3 a few days ago and had no issues. What worries me is this:
TL DR: The PS3 has an internal battery that will die and after it does and PSN is gone you might be unable to access any digital games you purchased. I highly recommend watching the video for more details. The problem is even worse for PS4.
Damn... with the rate at which I play games, I will never get through my backlog before my battery gives up the ghost.
Maybe they've found a way to emulate them on PS5? Wishful thinking probably but its a possibility

I would buy an Xbox instead and run everything in backwards compat.
Most of the good exclusives on Playstation 3 got remastered/remade/re-released on Playstation 4 anyhow if I recall.
