See how the Wii Lightsaber works

New Force Unleashed web doc shows off Wii version - multiplayer included

LucasArts has ahem, 'unleashed' the latest web documentary for Star Wars: Force Unleashed, showing just how you swing a Lightsaber with the Wii Remote (and stylus).

Expectedly, it doesn't look like the flawless 1:1 sabre thwoom-fest we imagined in our dreams, but the first proper Star Wars game of the generation definitely looks better in motion on Wii (and stunning on PS3/360).

The video also shows off the game's duelling multiplayer mode, which look a bit like a Star Wars fan's wet dream; pick from one of tens of Jedi or Sith lords, then slash the crap out of each other in famous film locals like Hoth or Tatooine.

It's out on September 19. We remain optimistic.

Around the Network

in order for their to be 1:1 motion the game will have to be on rails, otherwise It'll be the same waggle..replacing button press a fair that we've come to see thus far.

This game is gonna be awesome. I can't lie an say I'm not excited about the motion controls, but we'll have to see how they pull it off before I pick a version.

IGN said the motion controls were great, so I also remain optimistic.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

Actually, that's completely incorrect and shows a lack of knowledge about the game.

Several of the moves in the game are context based, As in, like zack and wiki, you have to adjust the roll of your controllers, both nunchuck and wii mote.

In other words, the extent of the motion controls in SW for the Wii go beyond just waggle instead of button presses, a fact you seemed to be unaware of before you posted your "opinion."

...and fyi, the Wii can't do 1:1 motion controls without 4 IR points on the Wii sensor. It only has 2. Therefore, it can't judge yaw, only roll and pitch. Again, informing the great unwashed, one hater at a time.
