Forums - Website Topics - Check this out - VGChartz data was almost idential to NPD for March

"I've always been on the fence about VG Chartz but credit where credit is due - their figures for March 2008 (released weeks before NPDs monthly data on April 17th) show an excellent correlation - they even have the same top ten games as NPD for the month (although in a slightly different order) & hardware is also close. Why does everyone bash vgc?"

great to finally have you over the fence.

i guess people not liking what the data is saying bash vgchartz - as might be NPD, since their business model is being destroyed.

Well the other months weren't that far off either.

All but 2 of the softwares are within 15% of each other.

SSBB is a little more than 15% lower on VGC than NPD

Cod 4 is about double on VGC.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

Can somebody put the NPD and vgchartz hardware figures side by side? I havent actually seen them yet.

Around the Network

hardware figures are close. but software figures are well off.

@Tombi: The numbers are in this news article:

January is the only month I can remember that HW was really off, SW is better this month than I remember, the only game that was really far off was SSBB... I that is understandible, with such a huge launch it would be easy so be a bit off. I think Nintendo's fiscal will show that VGC has gotten very accurate.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

will the SSBB numbers be updated higher?

Aye, a lot of the figures were really well done. Brawl and COD:4 were both a bit off, but if we can have that kind of consistency, that's awesome.
