I know I'm a bit of a broken record at this point, but given all the trends, literally the only way Switch doesn't set a new record for most systems sold in a year is if they simply cannot make or ship enough.

We both seem to be repeating ourselves. But yeah only way to screw it up is if Ninty doesn't make enough units

This isn't even funny anymore. 2+ million in a month before november ? What's next, 15 million in only 2 months ?

Actually yes. Or anywhere between 10 to 15 mil.

@trunkswd or anyone who knows. Is there a place in the charts section where we can easily see the YTD totals for all consoles?

What a shame to see the sales figure of the 3DS drop

We'll get an impression in two weeks I think.  If they can ship 6-7M for the Jul-Sep quarter, then they should be able to ship 13-15M for the holiday quarter.  The mid-point of that should be enough to achieve a 30M sold figure for the year (80M shipped, 78M sold which would be 30M sold in 2020).

What also needs to be considered is how huge the evergreen software is going to sell this holiday.  MK8D hit 4M last year on 10.8M hardware - could it feasibly hit 5M on 13-15M this year?  And what about ACNH lol (I'm expecting >6M for it).  BOTW hit 1.8M last year - this year it could end up above its 2017 holiday quarter (2M).

Looks like Switch will be around 18.5m at the end of October, assuming it does another 400k per week. That is a year end total that any system would be proud of, but Switch will have that with the two holiday months still to come.

TBH I think Nintendo has the ability to sell even more than what they're selling right now, I think Nintendo is saving a ton of stock for the Switch this holiday season which is keeping Nintendo from selling 500k a week right now.

Switch vs PS4 vs Xbox One Sales Comparison Charts Through October 17

Year to Date Sales Comparison (Same Periods Covered)

So by this point in 2018 and 2019 Nintendo had sold around half their yearly total. (Less in 2017 due to coming out in March and missing two months of sales)

Even if, to be conservative, they only sell about 40% of this year's total in the remaining two and a half months, that's still around 28-29 million.
