Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Yakuza Like a Dragon Series X Digital Foundry anlaysis

Hmm the obsession with raw resolution and frame rates for consoles is mind baffling to me.

Even Nvidia has realized that trying to hit these metrics are an ever moving target with the focus on DLSS. Internal rendering resolution at 1440p, then uprez to 4k.

I mean if you think of the "experience" of watching the Epic PS5 demo, which was at 1440p vs.Yakuza On Series X the difference is astounding. One looks like a last gen game (well i guess it kind of is) despite the 4k30 target.

I would personally much prefer a solid 1440p image that can scale well to 4k but still be awe inspiring at the experience level. I guess that will only apply to console exclusives.

Ultimately last gen ports running sub-par on next gen consoles is not representative of the consoles capabilities at all.

My list is based on info from Xbox's website as well as the list that Windows Central has been compiling.

Xbox website lists 4K for Madden 21 and NBA 2K21, but doesn't list 60 fps for either of them.

I'm skeptical as well because I think 60 fps has generally been a focus of sports titles.

The resolution is disappointing, but how is this gonna be on last gen?

I am guessing it will be 720p, 900p, 1080p and 1440p but all at 30 fps.

So basically the games runs at a not so stable 60fps@1440p, with 3 modes:

- High quality mode: 4K@30fps

- Normal: 1440p@60fps (with dips)

- High Framerate: 1080p@60fps (stable)

EDIT: On Series S, the high framerate mode is 900p@60fps

I find it very lackluster, I didn't expect a last-gen enhanced port to struggle to reach a solid 60fps on sub-4k on Series X.

Wait till you see the performance on PC & PS5 before you really rip into the Xbox Series X.

Besides, I don't think you can call a few dips as a "not so stable 60fps@1440P".

Tom was really impressed with the performance in Normal mode at 1440P@60FPS.
