I seriously don't understand the love for DKC3. I hated it so much.

Personally, I loved it for its variety in level design, and the same tight controls and vintage Rare charm that made the first two games great.

* Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals.
* Donkey Kong Country 2.
* Donkey Kong Country.
* Donkey Kong Country 3.
* Killer Instinct.
* StarFox.
* Super Mario World.
* Breath of Fire 2.
* Harvest Moon.
* Super Metroid.

Not in order obviously, didn't want to think to hard on it. Haha

I started playing it right after having finished DKC2, and for some reason it just didn't feel as good. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, but I would say that the music just didn't match the quality of the first two, the levels were more boring and the art style didn't please me like the first two. I didn't expect it but I stopped playing 1/3 of the way through.

I will say I didn't find the setting or music of DKC3 as compelling as the first two games, but I still feel both are well above average.

The levels never bored me though. The game as a whole is a step down from DKC2, but a step down from such stellar heights is still within the stratosphere, in my opinion.

Only 10? This is going to be hard

1. Chrono Trigger
2. Final Fantasy VI
3. Secret of Mana
4. Zelda: Link to the Past
5. Super Metroid
6. Super Mario World
7. Megaman X
8. Final Fantasy IV
9. Street Fighter 2
10. Super Mario Kart

1 Donkey Kong country 2
2 Zelda: A Link to the Past
3 UN squadron
4 Contra 3
5 Super Mario All Stars
6 Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
7 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4
8 Donkey Kong Country
9 Battletoads/Double Dragon
10 International Super Star Soccer ( coz I am Brazilian)

Honorable mentions:
Super Mario World
SMW 2 Yoshi’ Island
Super Punch Out
Top Gear
Star Fox

This turned out to be pretty tough to limit to just 10.  Not necessarily in particular order and remaining faithful to the games I put the most time into:

Super Mario World
The Legend of Zelda:  A Link to the Past
Final Fantatsy III (as it was called in US)
Donkey Kong Country
Secret of Mana
Sid Meier's Civilization
Sim City
Gemfire
Top Gear
Super Star Wars

Honorable Mentions to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Final Fantasy II, Populous, Drakkhen, Super Empire Strikes Back, Super Return of the Jedi, Donkey Kong Country 2-3, Street Fighter II Turbo, Mortal Kombat 1-3, Genghis Khan II: Clan of the Gray Wolf, Rampart, Star Fox, SpiderMan & Venom: Maximum Carnage, Tecmo Super Bowl I-III, Super Punch-Out!!, Liberty or Death, MechWarrior, Wing Commander, Star Trek The Next Generation: Future's Past, Lost Vikings, & others I'm either not remembering or know good things of but never personally had in my collection....

The crazy thing is I'm not even a JRPG person so Final Fantasy 5/6, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, etc are wasted on me, yet SNES is still my favourite system of all time just cos even leaving out one of its strongest genres it still just has so many top-notch games.
