Notice how the review scores were in the 90s when NFL2K was around and promptly fell off a cliff once EA locked up exclusivity. NFL2K5 was the last time they had direct competition.

its a general trend that multiplayer games tend to get shit on these days when reviewed by gaming media when compared witha decade/15 years ago..

Just take 2015 till 2019 and then take 2001-2005 in any yearly sports/fps game

gaming media only gets a hard dick these days when reviewing singleplayer games

Until the game sells only like 1-2M units, none f this actually matters.

Truth is, the gamers are the ones that are goofing if anything. We are the only reason that companies like EA still exist.

That's what I also say about DLCs and microtransaction, it's toxic but there are enough gamers that keeps buying them so developers wont stop making them.

If my memory is correct the 2005-2006 Maddens on 360 and PS3 were criticized for having less content than the versions on the less powerful consoles, which was why the last-gen versions got higher scores.

Here, enjoy some clips of how broken the game is:

The characters failing to pick up a dropped ball for about 40 seconds:

Madden X FIFA, the crossover I didn't know I needed, until now.

We're in the game-streaming era. These aren't glitches, they're features intended to introduce spontaneity and laughs from the player and the fifteen people watching the player over Twitch. EA's just chasing that sweet, sweet Deadly Premonition money!

I haven't bought a Madden game since Madden 13 Wii U. The last time that EA released a Madden on a Nintendo platform. EA tells its investors, Nintendo gamers can buy our game on one of their other consoles.  Sure, it's true that I CAN buy Madden on my XBox One, I just CHOOSE not to.  If they aren't going to bother making an effort to reach me the consumer, I'm not going to make an effort to give them my money.

EA done goofed again.

In other news, water is wet and a bag of rice fell over in China.

It's really infuriating that EA locked exclusivity from NFL2K and is just shitting on the game. If you're going to lock exclusivity, at least do a good job.

This is just revolting, let 2K sports do a better job than you, EA.

The way I see it, in franchises like these (Fifa, NBA, NFL, F1...etc), locking exclusivity usually means the company intends on not doing a good job.

I mean, when they know buyers have no choice, why do they need to do a good job? Especially when the dumb buyers keep on habitually just buying the shit they put out. In situations like these, the only thing that can change anything is if the bottom line is impacted significantly.

NFL2k5 was the last good Football sim. I also miss NFL Blitz. Madden was always mediocre. The fact this POS still gets a 65 is sad. It should be about %10 or less.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Things like this make me mad the dependance on licenses this sport games have. Many companies are capable of making great sports simulators, but because the licenses are so necessary to sell them, noone else bothers.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
