Forums - Gaming Discussion - For any fan of Paper Mario or RPGs in general, you should give Bug Fables a try.

Finished Bug Fables recently, and while I will admit it has it's flaws, it was a great game. Much better than I antecipated.

The story, the narrative and yes, even the combat is all great. Never liked the '' old'' Paper Mario, and neither the ''new'' ones, (the only good Paper Mario is Super Paper Mario for me), but damn this game got me going.

So yeah, I feel like this game biggest sales problem was related to it's marketing, because I see few people talking about it.So go give it a try!

Edit: Gonna put Arlo's review here to give the game more context on what the game is about:

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

If LRG does a release I might.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

It is a fantastic game. I'm intentionally taking it slow, doing the side quests first, to make it last. On chapter 5. I'm going to be sad when it's over. They NEED to make a billion sequels to this game!

How long is the game?

If you strictly play the main story and do it in the normal difficulty, probably betwenn 15 to 20 hours.

If you play in hard mode and do all/most side quest, more than 45 hours. That's what took me to finish it, anyways.

The Wasp Kingdom section is very fun! Enjoy it!

Having not played it past chapter 5, I can say this is without doubt better than Sticker Star or Color Splash. This is tied with the original (some better mechanics than the original but not quite as charming) and only behind Super Paper Mario and TTYD in overall quality. A STUNNING performance for a new ip!

Sounds promising. But it's a €30 digital-only game and you bashed the Atelier series, so I'll hold off until a sale anyway.

It's great. I got it on PS4 on release day and beat the story and some quests within about 10 days.
The art style is fantastic, the characters are great, the combat is awesome. I wish the overworld abilities were less wonky and mapped to more than one button.
It's not on the level of the first two Paper Mario games, but it's not drastically off.
