We know Microsoft had a plan with 360 to enter Japan and establish a fanbase of Xbox and they kinda made it with some great exclusives, such as Tales of Vesperia and Blue Dragon. But, it seems people didnt bothered much with Xbox One that has sold even less than original XBOX. 7 years since its Japan launch Xbox One has sold 120,000 units. In comparison, XBOX has sold 530,000 units and X360 1,660,000 units. Why Microsoft dropped the ball with this ?

No games, high price, and the features were nonexistent for Japanese at launch especially. Why buy a console that comes with nothing?

Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV were also available for Xbox One and many other rpgs.

Well they were also on the PS4 along with even more rpgs, so why bother with the XB1?

Both which came way too late.

Gotta choose your battles. Japan was a list cause before the Xbox One was even completed. Hell, pretty much the whole world was a list cause but no matter what m$ did in Japan, they weren't going to make a dent. I don't expect the XSX to fare much better. Just a different kind of gamer over there.

On one hand, you can play all of the weeb games for consoles including Persona
On the other, you can play some of the weeb games for consoles excluding Persona

It flopped because the original Xbox and 360 also flopped in Japan. The country just isn't fertile territory for Microsoft.

Is there a reason for a Japanese gamer to buy an Xbox except for collection purposes?
