Is this her first gaming machine? What kind of games does she like?

She's a pretty violent little girl. Kicking the living shit out of someone else is right up her alley, which is why I immediately thought of Brawl. She's not the type who wants crap like Hannah Montana. It would bore her.

Wait, she's incredibly violent? Are you sure this is a niece and not some bastard kid of yours we're talking about?

The dedication you show to any particular console or company is inversely proportional to the number of times you have gotten laid. If you get laid enough, even if you prefer a certain brand, you just don't give enough of a shit to argue about it on the internet.

I use wiimote/nunchuck combo exclusively for brawl. Easily the best combo (Classic just feels wrong, wiimote by itself unco, and gamecube has a ridiculously short cable and I have a ridiculously large television.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Ninja Bread Man.

Greatest game evar.

Edit: Or No More Heroes. You said she was violent right?

Edit2: To get a Wii you could try to convince Nintendo that you're are an editor for a major gaming website. Its not entirely a lie now is it? =P

Rocketpig - Already mentioned but I will second "Endless Ocean". I just got it for my niece for her 11th B-Day a couple weeks ago and she thinks it's the coolest thing ever (besides Animal Crossing:DS). A 10 year-old might need a little help initially with the emails or how to use the grid coordinate system but it's fairly simple. My niece has had the system for 7 months now and is still having tennis tournaments with her friends every weekend (Wii Sports). She played Elebits but got bored with it (I think it started to get too difficult).

Would be interested in a follow-up as to what you pick and what her reaction is.

SMG, it is an easy game, she will enjoy it.

i hate brawl with the wiimote

Zack & Wiki is perfect, kids I'll probably be able to figure out those puzzles as they'll be willing to really figure them out, especially if they like the art

Fire Emblem might be good as well, I played shining force when I was 10 and loved it, as did my 7 year old brother

KIDS USED TO PLAY GAMES LIKE NINJA GAIDEN! THEY'LL BE ABLE TO PLAY STUFF LIKE ZACK AND WIKI!

elebits or dewy's adventure would also be good

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't worry about the difficulty. When I was 10 I was beating Zelda and Metroid with no maps or internet. Zack & Wiki would be a great game for her. It's fun and complex. Think of it as a learning tool for her. Helps build problem solving skills.

that's exactly what I'm talking about, and your right about the problem solving skills Zack and Wiki requires, it is perfect for kids

Yep, pretty sure. She's not even a niece on my side of the family.
