What about that Hannah Montana singing game?

Why do people automatically assume that girls would have such poor taste in video games...

Exactly. Fun is fun, no matter what gender or age you are. I'm not going to give $50 to promote more Wii shovelware. I'm buying a good game for her.

I'm more concerned that someone hates Rocketpig so much that they would want him to suffer through having to watch his niece play this game, or hear about it.

Just wait until I have enough time to write another editorial and then you'll understand why people hate me enough to recommend shovelware.

Seems it is settled then, get her Brawl.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

seriously, get her a good GAME, not something perceived to be for girls. SSBB is a wise choice.

That's it. If there's a Wii to be found in Long Beach after work today, I'm fucking buying it.

I need to, uh, do research. Yeah, that's what I'll tell my wife.

Wait... Wouldn't Galaxy be a better choice for a 10 year old girl than Brawl?

Is this her first gaming machine? What kind of games does she like?

She had a GC before this. I'm not buying her Galaxy because I don't feel like beating every difficult part of the game for her like I did Sunshine. Mario games are pretty brutal on kids.

@rol: I would love to wait for MK but her party is tomorrow. Another game I was considering was RRR2. I would prefer Brawl, though. She plays a lot with her stepdad and based on the previous Brawl games, it seems friendly enough for casuals to get into while still retaining enough depth to keep someone like me interested for more than five minutes.

Didn't she get a few years older since SMS, so she probably got a little better at gaming in the meantime? Also you should give a present with her interest at heart, not your own. Also having to play SMG can never be considered a bad thing, although some levels might get a bit frustrating. But since you can also just skip most of these levels and still finish the game you really should be ok.

I'm going to be stuck playing this game a lot. I'm looking for something in her best interest, but mostly I'm looking for a game that won't completely suck. I want something her, her stepdad, and myself can play for a long time to come. Her mom won't be buying her many games and if I'm going to cough up $50 for a game, I want it to count.

Oke, but do you want the three of you to play it together at once, so are you more looking for a multiplayer game? If so SMG is definitely not an option and would limit your choices quite a bit. Although with SMG you can use a second controller to help the other player a bit, but I wouldn't really call that a multiplayer game.

I know what you mean with SMG. I've been letting my 5yr old play the last few nights. I always play 2nd player so I can assist him. He has 3 stars. He is getting better though. My little gamer.

His 4yr old brother was also playing the 2nd player spot last night. It was cute watching them work together at something. He would be all "I'll hold this for you and jump on him!" then the other brother "Ok, but don't let go he will get me. DON'T LET GO ROWAN!" I was cracking up.

OT: I think the wiimote/nunchuck play perfectly fine. It is the only style I have used.

Just get her House of Dead, or RE: UC, I used to love duck hunt when I was her age : ).

Good luck with that one. Let me know how it goes.

Also if you do actually get one be sure to buy Brawl for yourself too ^_^.

I don't expect to find one and so far, my checking has confirmed that expectation.

Oh, you can bet that I'll be buying both Brawl and SMG for myself if I do find one. Kinda regretting selling my Wii last summer but I can't complain considering the price I got for it and how little I was using the system at that time.

Nintendo's supply constraints are becoming ridiculous. There is absolutely NO excuse for them to still be short on supply 18 months into the console's life. They're just being fucktards at this point.
