Forums - Movies Discussion - After weeks of rumors, Snyder Cut of Justice League confirmed for HBO Max in 2021

Fuckin' A. I'm so glad WB finally relented. I know most people hate Snyder's DC films but I'm certainly not one of them. I loved Man of Steel, BvS and I can't wait to see his complete vision for Justice League.

I'm confident the movie will still be bad. That said, it will probably be better than the theatrical cut. Only because how could it be worse?

Justice League was the worst of Snyder's narrative incoherence and loud, stupefying action, mixed with a lot of last-minute revisions and tonal changes that destroyed any sense of continuity or cohesion. With this director's cut, we still get all of Snyder's bad instincts but at least the production will unfold according to a single vision.

Excellent! Now we'll finally get confirmation that Justice League was always going to be a train wreck. Maybe it'll be a slightly better train wreck what with having a consistent vision and without apparently half the movie missing (4 hours!), but there's a reason why they fired Snyder and dragged in Whedon in May to re-write, re-shoot, and go through post-production on almost the whole movie that was premiering in October. That's five months to slap together a blockbuster.

Do we really thing Warner Bros. went to the expense of doing that if the Snyder cut was remotely viable? It's not like Whedon ever had a chance of making a good movie under those conditions. Even his TV background (his true calling btw) didn't prepare him for that level of turnaround.

So less lighter moments and more dark and grisly theme in slow motion ?
I doubt it’ll make the movie better.
Pass.

HBO clearly wants people to remember the finale of Game of Thrones more fondly, but there must have been better options than this.

Well, that's nice I guess. I just don't see how anything less than a complete overhaul of the story and most of the characters could fix the film, and a new differently edited version of the same mess we already got is not going to be enough to salvage it.

I feel that this is just going to confirm what people already should know. That the film which exists in your imagination is always going to be better than what actually exists.

By having more of it.

Probably one of the few Superhero movies I dropped halfway through.

Yeah, I don't see how this makes the movie any better.
