Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy VII Remake Angry Joe Review!

Aren't all of his other video reviews a must watch too?, or is it because it's FF7R?. Asking, because I haven't seen Joe's reviews brought up here very often, if at all.

Well I see someone bringing Angry Joe to the discussions at least once a month, but yes a thread for his review I don't remember seeing as often.

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

As a general rule I’ll pass on the AJ video but that thumbnail has been burned into my memory for eternity 🤦‍♂️

I guess if we're posting gimmick reviewers reviews here...

Really? I feel like they're posted somewhat regularly.

The last time I remember seeing one of his vids on here, was around the time Sea of thieves first came out. Only that video was talking negatively about the game's shortcomings.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Well people generally will hand pick videos either positive or negative depending on what is their opinion of the subject.

Damnit Joe .. he should really learn how to pronounce some words properly before he makes the video it's always a little cringy hearing him f up words but other than that good review, i agree with him on almost all points. Great game too !

Well, English isn't his first language.

tbh, I thought he stopped making videos years ago.

Remember the good old days when new numbered FF titles released almost yearly? IIRC FF7, 8 and 9 were all only a year apart from each other. Just imagine if they could still do that. But nope, now they're like once a decade instead

Edit: It was 8 (Oct '99), 9(Feb '01) & 10 (May '02) that were all close together. Crazy. IMO the 3 best games of all time too, and they released in the span of 2 years & 7 months.

One of my biggest things I've been talking about to my friends recently is just simply this. I'm not playing FF games anymore. I'm not spending my money and time on them. From 97 to the start of the PS3 gen (I a HD TV for FF13) all I basically did was play FF games. Even into the 2010s I replayed them, purchased the remasters of X, 12 and recently 8.

Since the 'press x to play' game that was 13, I've not purchased a new FF game in now over a decade (13 came out in March 2010... and there was only 1 to choose from :P). I've got more disposable income now than ever before and they aren't making my favourite game series for me to give them my money. I had no interest in button masher FF15 with 4 characters and no colour and I lost interest in this "remake" as soon as they said no ATB, it had stagger and the narrative of the first mission was different.

Alas, holding on to them making a game in the vein of their heyday I think is done now. I've got big hopes for FF16 but then, how long will we wait for what might just be another button masher?

Two things changed.  1) Sakaguchi left (the FF creator), and 2) Squaresoft became Square-Enix.  I believe development on FF X started before either of these things happened which is why it is such a good game.  The games haven't been the same since.  I even like, to varying degrees, some of the FF games that came later, but they definitely aren't the same, and there is no going back.  All I can say is that I haven't played the Lost Odyssey yet, so I still have that to look forward to, but after that I won't be seeing the old FF magic anymore.

Also, just want to say that this is the best review I've seen so far of FF7 Remake.

I was so tempted to click on the dunkview when I first saw it, but I'm still stuck in lockdown limbo awaiting my pre-order, and it's been almost a week since I emailed EB Games for no response.

Could you share the general sentiments of what he says, and how serious he is? Some of his dunkviews are more sarcastic than not, and some (usually bigger titles) are practically dead-serious the entire way.

He mostly makes fun of the game, but this is what he does with every game.  Short version is he thinks the combat and boss fights are great, but all of the new story and character stuff is terrible.

Hmm. Thanks for letting me know.
