My current work laptop is already 6 years old and I fear the HDD or other parts could crap out at any moment. (It's become a bit slow, but runs fine, though.)

For several reasons a desktop is out of the questions, so I'll go for a laptop again.

First I was thinking about getting this one from Fujitsu (mostly because of the brand's good reputation for reliable hardware):

It's probably a no-brainer for most, but what do you think?

The Fujitsu has a better screen, but most of the time I use an external 1440p screen anyway, so it doesn't matter too much. From experience, Fujitsu laptops are very reliable. Does any member living in Japan have experience with Mouse Computer and can recommend them? Twice the RAM and storage for almost the same price seems good, but I'm still hesitating.

I'll use it mostly for office work (opening and editing several big Excel/Word/Powerpoint files and PDFs at the same time) and sometimes for ripping and compressing DVDs and the like. And I hate fan noise, so I need it to be quiet most of the time. (One reason why I don't want a desktop.)

Additional questions: I don't really plan on playing games on it, but if I were, would let's say 5-10 year old games run on those? (I don't really care about resolution and effects etc.)

Well it's hard for me to recommend anything since I don't really know much when it comes to shopping in Japan loll.

But here's my attempt.

MX250 is a pretty weak sauce GPU for that amount of money. You can get a dell G3 with very similar specs but an Nvidia 1650 for 130,980 which will smoke the MX 250 from Dell's website.

The CPU is a bit worse but the build quality, GPU and battery life are very good. It might not come with a webcam however.

The last thing I would recommend is try to see if you can find a laptop with Ryzen 4000 series CPU like the Asus G14. Those are very similarly priced to laptops with the i7 9750H but will give you 8 cores 16 threads instead of 6 cores 12 threads.

Thanks for the input. One more thing I forgot to mention is that because of work the laptop absolutely must have at least Microsoft Office H&B 2019. (And around 150-160,000 Yen is my upper limit.) If bought separately I think it costs around 30-40,000 Yen.
(I'm also pretty set on having an SSD for Windows and software plus a hard drive for storage. SSD alone probably won't cut it.)

Are DELL laptops reliable? I remember some people trashing the company here or on another forum or twitter.

They had a bit of a rep several years back, but I haven't heard anything but good things about Dell reliability for at least 3 years.

As far as I know, dells are generally good. My work buys dell computers/laptops and we never had any issues but your mileage may vary. They do have extended warranties if you are really worried. Some of their laptops deals also include Office. In Canada, they do have a unidays program that gives you an additional 10% off but not sure if it's the same in Japan. The G3 also goes up to 1660 Ti.

That's good to hear. They sometimes have sales and rebates on their store website here in Japan.

If you are remotely interested in gaming, you should forget laptops with 'integrated' graphics like Intel 6XX or Nvidia MX or AMD Vega, you should look on at least laptops with Geforce 1050.

You will be able to run emulators up to PS2/GC/Wii.

I'm only very remotely interested in gaming, so I'm not sure if it's worth the extra cost for me, but I'll keep it in mind. My main focus is smooth office work with big files.
Being able to play some low-requirement games is just icing on the cake. Emulation up to about GC level sounds great to me. Thanks for that info.

Additional question: Is a GTX 1650 any good? (If I did decide to game, I'd be content with 720p and low/medium quality.)
The other specs would be the same as mentioned in the OP (Core i7-9750H, 16GB RAM etc).
