This game isn`t a sequel and I won`t read spoilers.

Well, you're in for the shock of your life if you think this "remake" is going to take you down the same overall path as the OG game.  There's a reason people are talking about KH's BS being put into the game.  And because of that BS, it is more like a sequel that's trying to reboot the story of the OG game, a la Genisys.

First bolded:No not at all.

Second:Most of the main plot points are still intact while it is also a retreading of the same scenes + extras.

Then this game isn't a remake, either.

And sure, the main plot points stay the same.  Well, until they don't and the whole thing takes a nosedive off the OG FF7 rails and changes EVERYTHING in a big way.  In a very bad way.

I'm not expecting to go through the same path. If I were expecting it I wouldn't buy any of the FF7R games as SE said over 2 years ago that things are going to be different.

Doom eternal is 89 on Opencritc.
In fact, OC 88 is a pretty good score.

Jessie is the most fun character in this remake. She pure is fire!

I played the original 23 years ago and never played it again to not spoil my memories. Reading what they did with the ending is just sad. Its like some Kingdom Hearts bullshit. I always wanted to like KH but the story i so nonsense, if there is one, that I just avoid the franchise. Now they do it with FF7. Wrong move SE, again.

Given that Western game media has a strong prejudice against JRPG, the numbers will actually be better.

Huh, thought for sure it get 90+.

Anybody care to explain the cons that are bringing down the average?

People expectation not being met even with SE saying over the past 2 years that this game was going to be instead of just having the same story.

Some consider this a tragedy while they can't fanthom that over the past 2 decades SE have rethought the story and think it would be better to tell it a different way.

So basically over protectively fans holding on their nostalgia and pretending SE haven't said what they were planning on doing. You know, reviewers sometimes review based on what they wanted the game to be instead of what it is.

How is that even remotely true? Outside of FF14, Square has done nothing but produce disappointing FF games for like over a decade now, and they've all still managed to review incredibly well. If there's a bias, it's a favorable one, if anything.

shouldn't call it FF7 in that case but brand it as FF7.5 or FF7-V2

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

So do you believe that Western media fairly reviews Japanese games?
Even if most media are not, the whole will change if some media conduct discriminatory review scores.

Yes, sure, that would solve everything. It is a remake doesn't matter how much some try to say it isn't because the story as a whole will have changes to what they consider core. Any claim of that will have to at least wait for the end of all the releases to see how much the changes impacted in the story itself instead of changes in the internal path of the story.
