As far as I know, and correct me if I'm wrong, all votes of most if not all elections are counted within the day. And even if by the end of the day they are not done, and that state is key in deciding the election, they saty up all night counting. I do believe they have the manpower to take turns of something so fundamental and important as an election.

But nevermind that. Its been 2 full days since the polls closed and they are still not done. Even with the record breaking number of people that partook in this election, this reeks of ineficiency to say the least. And now we have some states(don't remember which ones, sorry. This all have been a mess to keep up with) have said that they are going to take up all weekend to count the votes?

At this point, this is just becoming stupid.

Yeah, I'm not sure of the details of the work hours for every state tbh. Stands to reason they'd get enough staff to keep the counting going, unless there's something else holding it up.

But if people started mailing in their votes from Oct 23, they should start processing them much earlier instead of trying to cram it through in one day.
Seems like this would be reasonable to everyone, but it's not a foregone conclusion in every state.

Yeah. Well, I just hope this will all be over soon.

Georgia: Per Kornacki, ~5k mail-in votes left in the biggest trump counties, ~10k left in Biden counties.

You are in fact wrong. In 2016, the last state was called just 2 minutes before friday. It's not uncommon for final votes to be tallied days after if a state is called. There is also a pandemic going on right now, so things are understandably slower. There is no legal obligation for counting to be done on election day, and votes generally do not have to be certified until late november or early december.

Isn't it to recount the previous votes to ensure that there has been no fraud? To avoid Biden to be prematurely being declared the winner, just so that, in case of fraud, they would need to "undeclare" Biden as the new president?

That's how I interpreted it.

No. If you think that, you simply haven't been following what he's been saying. He wants to recount (only states he lost), wants votes to keep being counted in states where he's behind, and vote counting to stop where he's ahead.

Well, even if I'm wrong, this is still an anomaly, given everyone's reaction through the internet. And it's not like this will end by friday. It seems that this will run through the whole weekend, and maybe even further. Would you still say that this is normal, even if there is no legal obligation?

And about the counting: Yeah, it is stupid, but this is a competition after all. If the tables were turned, I wouldn't put it past Biden and his team to pull a similar stunt. In this case, I would say it's more a matter of stupid bickering than something undemocratic.

Sorry, 13k in Bidenland. IF CURRENT PERCENTAGES HOLD, net gain of 7000 over trump in the blue counties. Trump counties, net 2000 gain over biden. Overall 5000 gain for Biden, putting him in the lead statewide by 2000 1000-2000. A couple hundred votes outstanding in each of a few more counties.

EDIT: 8000+ military absentees expected to arrive tomorrow! AAAAAAA

But Biden is in the same situation. There are places that he could ask that things not be counted so he could win (Arizona and Nevada), states he lost by just a bit and could try for a recount (North Carolina probably), and states that he'd like voting to continue so he could win (GA and PA). Unlike Trump, however, Biden is only saying that counting should continue. You can't say that he would totally do it in a similar situation when he's already in that situation and he's not.

It is not normal. Because we are in the middle of a pandemic. All of my classes this year are digital only. That's also not normal, but that doesn't mean it's a conspiracy or that anyone did anything wrong. Again, we are in a pandemic. If people on the internet think that it's a problem and somehow implicated fraud, then who gives a shit.

I absolutely would put it past Biden and his team to pull a similar stunt. I would put it past Hillary Clinton, I would put it past Mitt Romney, I would put it past John McCain, I would put it past Barrack Obama. I would put it past ever republican or democrat running for office this year none of whom who are making similar demands. I would put it past Rick Santorum, former Republican governor who is right now explaining how the republican party needs to stand up against Trump's dangerous rhetoric. Even Mitch McConnell is not going along with this bullshit.

It's not stupid bickering. It's dangerous. It is saying that legitimate votes should not be counted. It's literally the opposite of democracy, and nobody should be enabling it.

Just watched Trump's press briefing.
I've watched the occasional press conference for probably 35+ years.
This was by far the saddest thing I have ever seen. An old man who can't lose and slowly realises he will likely lose.
The the whole whining and lying about everybody stealing his win was more than pathetic.

Very sad to watch.

Biden is winning. He is not in the same situation.

If by some miracle Trump manages to turn this around, and Biden still dosen't ask for a recount, then you would have a point.

Georgia update:

https://public.tableau.com/profile/michael8078#!/vizhome/RescueaBallot/RescureaGABallot

There are 1,559 mail-in ballots statewide either missing or having a non-matching signature that will not be counted unless and until the people who cast them confirm those ballots are indeed theirs.

Just in: Biden got more than half of the mail ballots in one of the Trump counties.
