I don't hate the xbox..but I do think they are celebrating way to early.

He's referring to the NA core gamers.. he later goes on to say

"In Europe, the core consumer is still very much up for grabs, and we will continue to do things in Europe that we may not do globally, because we see that market is so critical to our success. We've launched a massive TV advertising campaign--multi, multi-million campaign across the region that launched before anything in the US...The second thing is that in advance of GTA IV, we've dropped the price of Xbox 360. We're now a lower-priced console throughout Europe."

i guess that really depends on the opinion of what a "core gamer" is. in many respects the statement is true.

many american gamers love shooters

not strange
cause guns play a much greater roll in their society than in Europe
they can even buy guns at stores there

:P

Well, you have to define what a core gamer is, plays, and does.

The X360 by some standards, has the core gamer - the average joe-blow shootemup American loves the 360. Look at what sells on the 360 - core games such as shooters, racers, and sports games which are a big portion of the American market.

Whereas the Wii has the more casual base, since it sells mostly Nintendo-based IPs, and Casual games.

And then the PS3 seems to specialize in "niche" games such as your old Niche PS2-only games that were/are Japanese-heavy (atleast in the West).

So yes, the 360 has the biggest core product of the American gamer - look at who sells more sports, shooters, and racing games. It's the 360 in the US.

Outside of the US, the 360 caters more toward the cultural "hardcore" in Japan (JRPGs, and whatever Tecmo makes, and Western games). And in Europe, I'd say they have the "core" audience, but less than the PS3 does, while the Wii also seems to be taking the Core market by storm.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I guess that means that the majority of gamers aren't core gamers; whatever that means; huh?

MS better not count their eggs before they hatch. Sadly it seems like they have already done that. There are still over a dozen titles the 360 will have to survive against the PS3.

This will only take a moment of your time. *steals your watch*

this reminds me of the dreamcast statement around ps2 came out where they were way ahead and then a year later came...hmm idk i could be missing something but nothing is ever set in stone expeccially in buisness.

Incert Witty Comment on how i'm a fanboy of all systems including PC here.

In a way, MS is right. In NA, 360 gamers constently buy games, look at their software sales. these are the guys who grew tired of waiting thE PS3 and bought the 360. In fact , the only reason i dont have a 360 is because i dont like paying for their live service.
