Forums - Sony Discussion - PS5 WILL NOT Have PS4 Biggest Problem

Huh, guess I take my quiet Xbox X for granted. I had no idea the other side had this problem

My PS4 Pro is quiet but it's not an old model. I have seen some players on a board saying their old PS4 Pro are not.

My PS4 Pro is just as loud as my launch PS4.  If all you play is PS4, maybe you just don't realize how loud it is.  I even find Witcher 3 more enjoyable on Switch docked because of how much quieter it is compared to my PS4.  When I got my X1, it suprised me how much more quiet it was as well considering the 360 was loud as hell.

I would not call it the PS4's biggest problem, nor a problem that ruins the game.  Headset and turning the TV way up helps.  But I have had 3 different PS4s of varying models in my home, and all of them are the loudest console in the house.  My phat PS3 is even quieter TBH.

With that in mind, I have to question the honesty of a person who claims the PS4 is quiet unless they truly have no other console to compare it to.

I have PC also for gaming and it is very loud for gaming. My PS4 Pro is not loud (bought it in 2018).

But no problem, it's always nice to be called a liar when I say the truth. Thank you.

My PS4 Pro is like a JET ENGINE. Even in the damned PS Store.

Mine only ever got loud with Horizon and some other game I can't think of. And that was YEARS after I got mine. Sometimes problems don't present themselves until way down the line.

*Edit* I think the other game that made it run loud was God of War.

Also wanted to add that I got my PS4 in early 2014 and a PS4 Pro on day one in like 2017.

PS4 slim is pretty silent though.

Maybe depends on the game. Because my Slim is noisy as hell in everything except not demanding games like Persona 5.

If you have a PC that is very loud and that is what you are comparing your PS4 to, it very well could sound quiet to you (I would look into that, cause that must be one loud PC).

Compared to any other console however, it sounds like a jet engine.  I got my PS4 Pro after God of War was released, so not an old model.  Has always been noisy as hell.  Same with my launch PS4 and a later model that I got for my son as well.  The only other console that is similar would be the 360, which also sounded like a jet.  My X1 and Switch are both near silent, and my PS3 to this day is quieter as well.

I an just pointing out that all evidence I have seen as well as the vast majority of PS4 owners out there it seems are claiming the PS4, PS4 slim, and PS4 Pro are loud as heck compared to other consoles.  Do with that info what you will, but if all you can compare you Pro to is a loud PC I can see why you might not realize the issue.

I know what loud means and yes I repeat my PS4 Pro isn't loud. Do with that info what you will.

My nephew was playing Horizon Zero Dawn earlier today, quiet console.

My experience with Horizon on my Pro was the opposite, and it seems the majority claim the same.

But you could just be VERY lucky as well, and maybe you got one of the few that do not have this wide spread issue.  It happens, I have a pair of heavily used launch joycons that do not drift, but I will not claim that an issue does not exist in their general design based on my luck alone.

Probably, on the french board I'm in, majority of PS4 Pro players have a loud console. So I guess I'm in the "lucky" minority.

My PS4 makes my Dreamcast seem as quiet as a mouse fart.
