Ratchet and clank also failed to hit 4k 60....

I'm really starting to think this turbocharged/variable rate thing has ps5 at 10.2 tflops not all that often. It's 1080 60. Yep 1080...

I'm also wondering if they boosted the gpu clocks after discovering the XseX specs, resulting in the yield rate and the cancellation of more preorders.

This is all speculation at the moment but something seems a little off IMO. We have no info because Sony have yet to release any. Another sign that isn't all that positive

Same price for lower speced console... Hmm, sounds kinda familiar.

That's what I have been saying since the start. The boost was a response to the Xbox Series X specs... And it was too late to do anything else, the performance of third parties are going to be quite different between the 2 boxes. Time will tell anyway.

And yes, Microsoft did the same exact mistake with the Xbox One versus the Play Station Four...

Resoloutiongate 2.0 incoming...

We didn't really make too much of a fuss for the X1X. On this site at least. I'm sure other Xbox fans would have been different on other sites.

Yep, it's suspicious for sure. Every 1st party Sony game so far is coming short of 4K 60 fps without the need for a separate performance mode:

  • Spider-Man Miles Morales: Only hits 4k/60 fps in a performance mode that has dialed back graphics settings (possibly no ray tracing)
  • Demon's Souls: 4k 30 fps mode and 1440p 60 fps performance mode
  • Ratchet & Clank: Dynamic up to 4K 30 fps mode and 1080p 60 fps mode

Then we have Dusk Golem saying that Capcom was struggling to hit 4K 60 fps on Resident Evil 8 on PS5, while easily hitting it on Xbox Series X, which matches with the framerate issues on both Res 8 PS5 trailers so far.

I definitely think that the huge overlocking on PS5 was a last minute response to Xbox Series X specs being revealed to be higher than Sony expected. Rumor was PS5 was originally planned to be a 2019 release, which is why it supposedly only has RDNA 1.5 instead of RDNA 2. It would explain why Sony is having to rely on all of this boost mode overclocking, why there seems to be yield issues on PS5 (leading to retailers cancelling some preorders), and why performance seems to be coming in a good bit lower than Xbox Series X on both 1st and 3rd party games. Between the lower tflops, the overreliance on high clock rates to achieve the tflops rating it does have, the dynamic GPU and CPU power, and the fact that it seems to be RDNA 1.5 instead of RDNA 2, I really think that we're looking at a real world performance gap of closer to 30-35% than the 18% gap we see on paper.

In fairness, I don't expect any games to hit 4K60fps with raytracing on this generation. Raytracing takes a huge toll on the GPU even with the new Nvidia 3000 series.

If Xbox made an Xbox All Stars game, what would you prefer. A fighter, kart racer, hero shooter or a fuzion frenzy type of party game?

Better off partnering with Nintendo to make a Nintendo vs Xbox smash game.

I'm going to be greedy and pick both fighter and kart.
Just let the KI team do the fighter
and revive bizarre for the kart game

With the Xbox expanded portfolio it would be way better than a potential Nintendo vs PlayStation Smash.
