I'd rather MS make a deal with 3rd parties to have them be on gamepass day one, and not take them away from Sony, or Nintendo.

Not sure how can anyone even think about it being EA or Ubisoft. I think those publishers never released a game on GamePass in the service's entire lifespan. If EA would want to offer their games day one through sub, they would try to make a premier tier of their EA Access if MS allows it of course, Same with Ubi. But to be honest, these publishers are way too big to benefit from this deal anyway, so they won't be doing it. And I suppose if they try to make the same sub that they have on PC (I mean the premium tier) available on Xbox, Microsoft would probably not allow them to do it, because they probably wouldn't want any hard competition with GamePass.

You guys read way too much into every little thing that some insider says.

It could be a huge publisher like EA, and what shinobi said would still be true. For as big and successful as EA are, and the huge franchises they own, tons of people hate them, so any reaction to a GamePass deal between them and MS would be split. Same with Activision.

Mind you, I'm not saying it's going to be one of these mega-publishers, just that shinobi's statement is going to be accurate regardless of how big or small the publisher in question is. Many people will look at any partnership and go "....meh."

True.

I remember Ryuu posting shit from a fucking cat last month

Hey that cat is actually a known leaker amongst Microsoft stuff.

Dunno how he does it but he gets access to files, videos, etc. before their announcement.

Does the cat sometimes appear out of thin air to tell you things?

To me at least, the publishers that make the most sense would be:

  • THQ Nordic (Owners of IP's such as Destroy All Humans, Darksiders, Kingdoms of Amalur, Biomutant, MX vs ATV, Wreckfest, and Giana Sisters)
  • Sega (Publisher of series such as Yakuza, Sakura Wars, Sonic, Total War, and Football Manager)
  • Koch Media (Owner of IP's such as Saints Row, Timesplitters, Dead Island, Homefront, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and Red Faction)

Out of those 3, I'd say that Koch Media is the least likely considering that Kingdom Come is being removed from Gamepass soon, if MS had just signed a big Gamepass deal with them than Kingdom Come on Gamepass would have been renewed for a longer period on Gamepass. Sega is probably the most likely of the 3, considering they've already praised the performance of both Yakuza and Phantasy Star Online 2 on Xbox, and already had a partnership with MS rumored a few months ago.

I prefer Sega games but THQ, with all the studios the own, will release like a billion games in the next years so it might be the best option if you want a steady flow of games for gamepass.

Lot of nasty concern trolls in that thread, yuck. GTA 6, Starfield, Suicide Squad, COD, FF 16... idk about a lot of those.

Yeah I don't know what to expect anymore with these companies and lack of proper news (price). I hope E3 comes back. This shit has been a disaster.

Sony wouldn't have enough left over after the timed deals they've already made to be able to afford Starfield, GTA, or CoD. FF16 is a sure thing for Sony at this point. Suicide Squad could happen, but I'm doubtful, does Sony really need both Avengers exclusive DLC and Suicide Squad timed exclusivity, don't see what it would do for them when they already have a 1st party superhero series, Spider-Man.

FFXVI is making me think... didn't they have an exclusivity deal for the new Agni IP? Are people mistaking those or do they believe they'd moneyhat both?

PS2 era of domination I guess. The wording from the insider said like well known multiplat. Watch it be some dumb mode, like MUT mode, or some COD MP thing. But yeah FF 16 is for sure a timed exclusive in some way for PS5. Willing to bet my account on it

Te juegas la cuneta, eh?

Couple of things

- Shame that MS isn’t getting rid of gold, no need to reiterate my thoughts for the 5th time

- xCloud is gunna make me switch to Android

- The Sony show today wasn’t even worth live-streaming idk what they were thinking. Way worse than the Xbox webcam show

- I don’t want MS to fight moneyhats with moneyhats rather them get real exclusives, make/buy studios, or even make big games day 1 on gamepass, any of those is much preferred.

It officially made me switch back to Huawei. My iPhone will remain but only as a second phone. My main will be the new Huawei P30 (standard) I just ordered a few hours ago. It still has GMS, but I will eliminate those and cover the absence with MicroG instead.

The iOS Gamepass thing is really unfortunate for me. On the one hand, I don't trust Android security at all after past experiences family members have had with it. But on the other hand, I really like the idea of being lazy and streaming my Xbox games to my Phone while laying in bed with one of those new Razor xCloud controllers. Maybe I could just get a cheap $50 Samsung phone and use it for nothing but xCloud, lol.

You could also just get a small Windows tablet or something like the new GPD Laptop. It's small and pretty powerful. If you're worried about safety, remove GMS and change over to MicroG. It doesn't send or track any data (though if you get lost or your phone does, then you won't be able to track it).

I don't like lagdroid and hate Google as much as I do Apple, but at this point you can get rid of Google on their OS, but Apple not interfering with theirs requires Jailbreak+Cydia and I'm not sure if MS will conspire with Cydia's creators to give us what we want.

I really hope they do though. iOS is really nice. I just wish it had the ability to dual boot to Android just to play xCloud and use VNDS and switch over to iOS for everything else. If only...

Getting fed up with these insider teases now, makes me even more worried Sony is going to moneyhat something I genuinely want.

Hope this is fake news.. man I just want to know what they are.

Is it true Spelunky 2 is only on PS and Steam even though they had a deal with MS for the first Spelunky on Gamepass? Some devs...

Yo listen Xbots, gotta call a spade a spade here. Is MS/SEGA striking a deal to not put out the PS5 version? If they are that's BS and should be called out too. I can't sit over here and be mad about FF 16 and other big moneyhats if MS and SEGA are pulling similar shit. I mean the PS5 version, hell even the PS4 version will surely outsell the SeriesX/One version combined, but we still haven't seen anything of it.

Might be prioritizing Series X, but I also do not think it's coming to game pass day one either. Either way, PS should also be getting to experience Yakuza Like a Dragon on PS5.

Any clarification on this would be good. To me, this looks like a weak moneyhat.

I still find it difficult to believe they could have anything bigger than FF16. Look at what they've moneyhatted recently:

  • Ghostwire Tokyo timed console exclusivity- Tango's last game, Evil Within 2, sold 1.05m physical on PS4 according to VGC, compared to 390k on XB1, with digital taken into account, probably something like 1.7m PS4 vs 600k XB1. Not too expensive for Sony to compensate Bethesda for a game that probably would have sold less than 1m copies on Xbox even if it released day one on XSX.
  • Deathloop timed console exclusivity- Arkane's last 2 main games were Dishonored 2 and Prey. VGC has Dishonored 2 at 1.97m PS4 vs 860k XB1, while Prey is at 1m PS4 vs 450k XB1. Both sold more than Evil Within 2, so Sony likely will have paid Bethesda more for Deathloop than for Ghostwire, but both would still be relatively cheap.
  • FF7 Remake 1 year timed exclusivity and Project Athia probably 1 year timed exclusivity- FF15 sold around 3.5m on PC and XB1 combined as far as we know, compared to about 6.4m on PS4, considering how much stronger FF sales are on PS, it probably wouldn't be super expensive for Sony to get timed on FF7 Remake parts or Project Athia (which was originally being directed by FF15's director before he buckled under the pressure of AAA development and quit).

Now compare that to the rumored moneyhats so far:

  • Street Fighter 6 timed exclusivity- Street Fighter 4 sold over 9m across all platforms, compared to 4.5m so far for Street Fighter 5, though it is worth noting that Street Fighter 4 got Super and Ultra Edition re-releases that boosted it's sales considerably. If you compare only the highest selling version on each platform, Street Fighter 4 sold about 6.5m compared to 4.5m on Street Fighter 5. However, Sony got SF5 exclusivity for cheap by agreeing to cover the development budget for the game, because Capcom was nearly bankrupt at the time. However, Capcom's money troubles are no more, so one would imagine that it would cost Sony a good bit to keep SF6 off of Switch and Xbox Series, even if only for a year, though still not a ton.
  • Final Fantasy 16 timed exclusivity- Similar situation to the above on FF7 Remake and Project Athia. The fact that FFXV sold more on PS4 than on PC and XB1 combined really helps Sony in their negotiating for timed exclusivity on future FF games.
  • Silent Hill full exclusivity- Considering that the cancelled Kojima developed Silent Hill game was originally going to be PS4 exclusive, this isn't really a surprising rumor. Silent Hill has never been a huge seller like say Resident Evil, it likely wouldn't cost Sony all that much to get this even as a full exclusive.

So, looking at what Sony has hatted so far, and what they're rumored to have hatted, most of it is fairly cheap. They're only paying to keep Deathloop and Ghostwire off of Xbox for a year, both are on PC day one, and neither are games that would have gotten a Switch port since they next-gen games and simply couldn't run on Switch without massive downgrades, Sony had to keep them off Xbox only, and previous Arkane and Tango games weren't huge sellers on Xbox anyway. FF games are already huge sellers on PS, so it likely wouldn't cost Sony a ton to keep these off of PC and Xbox for a year. Silent Hill wouldn't be expensive to get at all.

These insiders seem to be hinting at things that would cost crazy amounts of money. GTA 6 timed on PS5 is pure insanity to suggest as a possibility, MS had to pay $100m to get timed exclusivity on GTA 4's DLC alone back in 2007, and that was when GTA sales were like 20m lifetime, now they are at 135m lifetime, to get 1 year timed on GTA 6 itself would probably be a $1b deal or more most likely. Something like CoD or Starfield could end up costing upwards of $350m to get 1 year timed on I would imagine. I just can't see Sony throwing that kind of money around.

Any series that sell less than 10m lifetime are probably open season for Sony right now, but I will be truly shocked if they hat any series that sell more than 10m lifetime.

What about certain modes within multiplat games. Like getting GTA Online for 6 months or something. I feel FF 16 is already a given seeing as FF 7R is also a year. Saw the recent sales for 7 and idk... Not that great for a massive install base for one of the most requested FF games. Not saying Xbox would have done THAT much, but between Xbox and PC I'd say maybe another 750K-1 million? Not like I was going to buy that piecemeal game anyway.

GTA 6 in general would be massive... I can't even imagine the reaction. Although it would probably be less than MS money hatting TR
