Also based on the original trilogy, yeah, WB's LOTR is restricted to original trilogy, we can probably let that one go and IF Monolith still wanted to do LOTR, Xbox can directly negotiate with Tolkien Estate.

I don't see how WB's LotR content is restricted to the OG trilogy when they've made Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, both of which are set prior to said trilogy.

And for 2 billion, I'm not "letting go" of jack shit lol.

Fortunately guys, we don't really have to worry about any of this, cus in the end EA is gonna be the ones buying them, and then proceed to do very dirty things to them.

Tencent or EA...I don't like Tencent on a moral level, EA ruins everything though. God every company seems garbage, really wish Ubisoft wanted it but they're both too 'poor' and likely not interested.

ubisofts only flaw is that they are french from origin

I dunno about the publisher sale. Too many employees and too high asking price. Part of me still hopes they got their Japanese studio figured out. Holding out for the Konami IP rumor

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Actually Asobo. They can be the Flight SIM dev every 6 years or so. Round out the time in between with games like Plague Tale Innocence. They are clearly a under appreciated developer. MS might want to see how flight sim does to make a decision.

A month later the same was said about MS

One thing is certain to me. MS needs more studios, especially AAA capable studios, if they want to take the fight to Sony this gen and be the market leader in the eventual streaming war gen after next, or whenever that takes place. Sony's 1st party right now is simply stronger from a AAA perspective, as they have 7 AAA studios currently, with rumors of a possible 8th. Of those 7 current AAA studios that Sony has, all but one of them have released AAA games that reviewed well (over 80 meta) with 4 of them topping 90 meta at least once. Sales wise, 5 of them have released PS exclusives that sold more than any Xbox 1st party series except for Halo, with 2 of their studios actually beating Halo's sales.

Microsoft needs more AAA studios and more IP's with high sales potential. How they go about getting those doesn't really matter. Acquire WB and negotiate those big licenses. Acquire Zenimax. Acquire one of the 3 big but affordable JP publishers. Acquire some of the indie AAA studios like Gearbox, Crytek, Remedy, etc. It doesn't matter which they do, but they definitely need more AAA's, and they need to act fast, before others acquire what remains of the AAA indie industry and other publishers that are cheap enough to be easily affordable.

I think there is little point to this for this gen if the games aren't landing within 2 years, 3 at most (with a lot of hype material available within two years).

That means they'd need to acquire studios with projects already on the go.

Though I take your point that if they're willing to take a two generation perspective it would be ok to be delivering magic in the 4th and 5th year of the Series X's life.
