You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Finished As Dusk Falls.

Overall I liked the story and cared about most characters. Hard to say more about it without going into spoiler territory.

Game takes about 8 hours to finish but there's a really decent amount of different paths to take and they certainly have a real impact on the story. Many achievements require you to replay a scene and pick a different outcome. That's what I'm going to do next.

The amount of interaction is quite low. It plays more like a visual novel than a point and click adventure. Other than a few QTEs, some scenes where you can interact with some selected parts of the screen and tons of dialogue choices, there's nothing you can do. Reminds me of some Telltale games but even lighter on the point and click aspect.

What's up with the very last scene though? I don't see why that was necessary. It feels very random and has no obvious connection to any event that happened throughout the game. I know there's a possible backstory to it but when you don't explain or at least strongly hint at what might've happened back then and what caused this event to happen, you won't get it. The game wouldn't have been any worse if that last scene was cut. Maybe they're hinting at a sequel? Unlikely IMO.

7.5/10

Desperately needed.

Oh hell yes!!! I loved the writing and worldbuilding of Outer Worlds, but combat was by the far the biggest weakness of the games indie status.

Update: Paradox has reached out to inform us that Victoria 3 will not be joining PC Game Pass on release in October after all, or even coming to the Microsoft Store at launch. Previous communication such as the monthly update videos have included the PC Game Pass logo at the end (and still do as of this update), though this is no longer present in the most recent update video. As per an update on the Paradox forums, "the game will be a Steam exclusive at the release — after discussion with our partners it was decided that Victoria 3 won't be a part of Game Pass or Microsoft Store. Xbox fans of Paradox’s epic grand strategy titles can enjoy our games like Crusader Kings III, Stellaris, Shadowrun Trilogy, Hearts of Iron IV and more with Game Pass today and we look forward to sharing more details on our next partnership with Xbox in the future."

Victoria 3 coming October, skipping MS Store and PC Game Pass at launch (trueachievements.com)

Weird.

That's incredibly odd. Especially considering all their major franchises are already on Game Pass. Wonder if Paradox tried to alter the deal for Victoria 3 and it was too steep for Microsoft? Weird sounding though lol

Crusader Kings III by a MILE was Paradox's biggest launch in the company's history. I can see that they would've wanted a larger deal for this game. For the marketing to go to PC Game Pass, then in the most recent update, it's gone.

So Season 3 of Infinite maaaaaaaay be more in line with Season 2's amount of content. Hopefully we still hear from 343 very soon. This is supposedly from a private beta happening this weekend.

It would have been nice if they said something before the last day of August. Though, the delay we all saw coming.

Seriously. Waited to the last possible moment
