I checked and for some reason, ZeniMax Media, a holdings company, is still listed as the parent company of Bethesda Softworks and their in-house studios. I feel like it would be more streamlined if ZeniMax was done away with entirely and it was just Bethesda Softworks directly reporting to Xbox, acting as the "parent company" to Bethesda's first party studios. |
They left the old corporate structure in place to reduce the administrative burden on Microsoft, and the same will happen with ABK for the most part. Obviously a bunch of ABK executives plan on leaving, but their positions will be filled with replacements, not eliminated.
Microsoft Gaming’s employee headcount (not just developers, but everyone) post ABK acquisition is probably going to be somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 people. I think that’s too many people and too many teams to administer as one single unit. Microsoft Gaming’s leadership can still make big picture planning decisions, but it’s probably good to leave the old structures in place for day to day operations management
