I just noticed that Ubisoft's worth is only $4.5 billion. I thought it would've been around $10 billion. Amazon can easily make that happen. Although, I don't know what kind of barriers could get in the way of that given it's a French company.

According to this: Ubisoft (UBSFF) - Market Capitalization

As of February 2022 Ubisoft has a market cap of $6.35 Billion.

Yahoo says $5.4bn, I'm not sure which is more recent.

Add on 10%-40% (average premium ranges but could go higher) as a premium to the market cap and that will be (very roughly) the price of an acquisition.

Ubisoft has dropped quite a lot in recent years, they posted a decent sized loss even a couple years ago, nowadays even Embracer Group is worth more, but if we take the top link as accurate they could go from $6.9bn to $8.8bn.

But that doesn't really change your main point, Amazon could still easily afford that, Lol.

That's still insane to me that ZeniMax has less than a quarter of the employees Ubisoft has and yet their market cap was still so similar.

No wonder so many Ubisoft employees complain about work pay. There's so little to go around lol.

My biggest concern if Amazon does take the plunge into buying Ubisoft, what's stopping Google to swoop in at that point and buy someone like EA or Take-Two to try to revitalize Stadia? Unless Stadia truly is dead and they're just licensing out the tech.

If the games stay multi platform then I don’t care if Amazon end up buying Ubisoft, it could actually be a good thing for MS because it would give them competition in the cloud gaming space and will justify their massive spending on Video Games to shareholders and other government bodies if they continue to make big purchases post ActiBlizz.

Also Google is goin to do jack, if they got scared out of gaming because MS spent 7.5 billion on Zenimax then how do you think they feel now that MS spent nearly 70 Billion on ActiBlizz.

Kinda hope the possible tease for SF 6 is PS exclusive so we get more comments in here.

More that I think about it, I hope they do make it exclusive so MS may be more inclined to open that wallet more for smaller studios and two idc about capcom or SF.

Xbox now has a 2nd party producer in Tokyo, strongly suggests they have some JP 2nd party games coming, probably more than just the long rumored Kojima cloud game.

I Hope that they secured one of the two projects from JP games.

I wonder how the corporate structure will be for Activision Blizzard when/if the deal finalizes? I checked and for some reason, ZeniMax Media, a holdings company, is still listed as the parent company of Bethesda Softworks and their in-house studios. I feel like it would be more streamlined if ZeniMax was done away with entirely and it was just Bethesda Softworks directly reporting to Xbox, acting as the "parent company" to Bethesda's first party studios.

It would be a good start to get rid of the current overarching corporate structure of Activision Blizzard, which operates I guess in a similar manner like ZeniMax, and split both companies into their own publishing entities, along with their respective studios. You never see Activision Blizzard listed as the publisher for the latest CoD. It's just Activision. Same thing with a Blizzard game or a King game.

That way, Bobby Kotick and all his goons are completely out of the picture, with Activision and Blizzard operating as independent publishers reporting directly to Xbox in a similar manner as Bethesda Softworks would be. It'll also help get rid of the "Activision influence" that was seeping into Blizzard for years, on top of employing just some really bad people. And of course give Vicarious Visions back to Activision :) I probably put way too much thought into this xD
