I absolutely hate this move, out of all the dream scenarios they decide to do this one.

They could have bought WBGames, Sega and Capcom with all that cash and still have more left over.

Activision offer nothing to Xbox considering that more than half of their studios are CoD teams (CoD won’t even be exclusive lol) and they just killed Vicarious Vision to be a support studio for Blizzard.

Imo this absolutely kills any chances at them buying a Japanese publisher because any more moves that they do after this will likely be blocked.

Watch Sony respond by buying Square Enix where’s they will actually get exclusive games.

I get your point and this is my oppinion based on my taste obviously: but for me it is completly the opposite. I could not give a damn about japanese Studios (maybe SE would be an exception) but mostly for Final and then the rest are western gender games anyway (Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, etc..).

I do not want MS to spend a penny on Japanese stuff (based on my taste) and for a business stand point, they will NEVER be able to compete in Japan anyway. So they should not be wasting any resources there.

Blizzard being on GamePass, is just a dream coming through for me... Xbox and Battle.net are the only 2 places I'm trying hard to complete games for achievements, Blizzard games are almost exclusively the only games I  play on PC, etc... AND maybe Microsoft will use Heroes of the Storm to build their "franchises" MOBA :) Who knows, Heroes of Xbox with Master Chief kicking some Diablo butt! (omg, that would be so amazing)

I do not care about COD tho.

I think the Xbox Series X/S is going to outsell the Xbox 360

Almost all of Blizzards franchises do jack for Xbox, sure you get Diablo 4 (will always be bigger on PC) and Overwatch 2 (Director already left) but what else?

Wow will likely never come to Console, and then all you have is CoD on Gamepass day one that while big does absolutely nothing for me.

When it comes to Japan it was never about beating Sony and Nintendo there but the diversity of games, IPs and genres. With Capcom you would have Resident Evil, Monster Hunter (which would moves units for MS in Japan if Exclusive), Dragons Dogma, Dead Rising, Street Fighter, DarkStalkers, DMC and Mega Man plus the RE Engine. Capcom are very good AAA devs.

They might not do anything for you but they’ve sure as hell do more than a creatively and morally bankrupt Activision Blizzard that have lost a ton of talent in the last few years.

I think it will arrive on console sooner than later I was expecting it to happen before the acquisition announcement since they have added full Gamepad support over the past year or two and I know a couple of guys who play it exclusively on Gamepad with one who raids on it very successfully.

On another note MS now owns 2/3 of the big classic MMORPG's with WoW and ESO and FFXIV been the other.

@EspadaGrim I think you're looking at this from a different perspective. Sounds like your looking for what the acquisition does for you and your gaming taste rather than what it does for the Xbox brand. Having the Blizzard acquisition does a lot for Xbox on the PC space. They can incorporate the Blizzard store into their strategy and put WoW o n gamepass.

Having CoD become more integrated into the Xbox ecosystem keep Microsoft competitive with Sony and gives them the opportunity to surpass them in some regions of this generation. No other publisher would put Microsoft in this situation they are now. Not even EA because there's no way MS would be able to have exclusivity with licensed games. Take Two takes way too long to release their games that we won't see the effect of such an acqusiito9n until the next generation.

This is not about Xbox. It is about GamePass. COD + Blizzard games brings a LOT to it.

As far as the Japanese studio creativity versus Activision/Blizzard... Let's just agree to disagree, your (and mine) taste are different and Activision/Blizzard have a LOT of creativity, maybe not alligned with your taste, but it does align with a lot of people out there!

Can Xbox App, BattleNet and BethesdaNet join forces to make a competent PC Launcher?

I'd hope so. Doesant make sense to divide your ecosystem so much. I think we could see a merger to compete with Steam and the Epic store.

That is a $70 billion dollar question.

It’s not just about Japanese devs/games for me, yeah it’s my personal taste and I understand from a business perspective why MS would do this since it was a now or never situation for MS to even do a deal like this and having CoD games day one on Gamepass will elevate it much faster which will be a positive for them and the rest of the studios.

But still out of the big 4 western devs, Activision is the last one that I would have wanted.

CoD games tend to do well in Japan and could help the Series X/S sales there which means for Japanese support.
