8 is a far cry from the 90+ average.  Point is, different strokes for different folks. 

And giving a game an 8, that you define as "lazy" seems odd, but I digress.   

Giving a game that averages 90+ an 8/10 is still within the general critical consensus. Lots of games get 90+ averages with quite a few reviewers giving said game an 8/10. Look at God of War for example. https://opencritic.com/game/5434/god-of-war/charts It has 9 to 10 scores of 8 and is still rated insanely high. 

Saying "This game is great" is not a far cry from saying "this game is excellent". That's how I interpret an 8/10 score (great), and a 9/10 (excellent) score. 

Almost all remakes and remasters are lazy by definition, and yet those are still great games. Lazy is not a synonym for bad. Not always at least. 

Anyway, this kind  of derails the thread topic. So I'm done with this sort of conversation. At least in this thread.

This game I was very interested in when I first saw it in June 2018, as I like hectic over the top stuff that's akin to PlatinumGames with the massive bosses and enemies, lots of action happening around you and so on. But, disregarding the score, there's simply too many games that have come out since then that I'm trying to get through right now as well as a lot of other stuff coming up this month, and the rest of this year.

I think there's gonna be sadly plenty of casualties this month with games getting buried by so many other highly anticipated titles.

For what the game is, it doesn't seem too bad. Just seems like it because of the review inflation that has happened over the years. There are plenty of 7/10 games I've enjoyed.

I'm still Jonesing for a mech building game that captures the feeling of Chromehounds. That game would have been great, but it had terrible servers. DxM is from very similar devs.

Lets not be shocked, Its an Armored Core game. I knew it would review like one. The demo just threw everything at you just Like AC, Long winded self absorbed talking (That long conversation about libraries and digital library was fuckin obnoxious) like AC, high learning curve like AC. The guy behind this just doesnt learn.

A 71 or 75 is not bad. But as some mentioned, it’s gonna be difficult for DxM to stand out amongst the crowd this month alone. Regardless, it’s a nice title in the Switch’s ever growing library.

What learning curve?  I never played an armored core game and everything clicked.  It is actually quite easy

If it's truly like Armored Core it'll be in the incredibly complex customization.  The difference in performance for the average player who doesn't spend many hours in the build menu is like someone who just buys a starter set and a couple of booster packs in MtG vs someone with a deck loaded with rares and mythics.

I look forward to diving into the customization myself, but I see what you are talking about now.  However given that there is no PvP multiplayer, none of that really matters as much as it should have.

On a side note...they dropped the ball by not having PvP multiplayer.
