Forums - Sports Discussion - The NFL Thread 2019: The Kansas City Chiefs Win Super Bowl LIV

Who do you believe will have a stronger defense in 2020?

Patriots 2 66.67%

Steelers 1 33.33%

Total:3

Here's our Week 1 scores.

If you're not especially familiar with who some of these people are, that's probably to be expected. Given the relative low turnout a day before the Packers-Bears game, I put an advertisement out on Twitter to try and get more people to participate, and it seems a number of people joined in. One of the newcomers, BTM, is another diehard Packers fan, so it seems Rol will have some company to be delusional about the results of one game with.

That said I have no idea who ROB Side B Attack is, although the name made me laugh enough to keep his 0-16 results around.

There weren't too many upsets this week: the Browns self destructing at the end against the Titans was the only major surprise, it seems. The people with more than 2 or 3 losses largely lost out on toss up games. Lions and Cards playing to a tie also handed everyone an extra loss. Dammit Matt Patricia. We were close to another big upset with the Texans almost knocking off the Saints, but for some reason Romeo Crennel thought it was a fantastic idea to play prevent defense when the Saints were clearly running a play to just try and pick up a few extra yards for a field goal attempt. If I'm Deshaun Watson, I'm livid over how many times my defense has fucked up my late game heroics now.

That said, I'm not Deshaun Watson. I'm a guy running a prediction league, so here is Week 2's slate of games. I'll also link back to Week 1's results here: Everything's been copied over from an imported spreadsheet so there shouldn't be any chance of mistake, but just in case, I encourage everyone to double check my work and make sure there are no errors.

As a final note, I'm just bringing over the same tiebreaking system (PP) from last season. I think everyone who actually bothers to check this thread is pretty familiar with it, but if not, feel free to ask.

Go ahead and pick the Vikings, folks.

Delusion sits firmly with the Patriots fans who will fall victim to Fitzmagic this week.

Joke's on you, we're all well aware of how bad we suck in Miami.

Miami is awful, expect a blowout

Were it any other team in their situation, I might not even bother to tune in. But the Dolphins have just...inexplicably beaten the Patriots so many times in Miami. We've lost to Nick Saban, Joe Philbin, and even the fucking awful 2-11 2004 Dolphins somehow beat what remains in my mind the best Patriots team ever. I'm not taking anything for granted here.

That wasn't the game that broke the streak was it??

Nah. The streak was broken earlier in Pittsburgh, the infamous Halloween game. Willie Parker ran wild and like half the Patriots' team was injured. I'll never forget the sheer amount of shit Yinzers talked for the rest of the regular season, you'd think they won like ten Super Bowls right there rather than beat a halfway functioning team at home. The ensuing AFCG is honestly one of my favorite football memories.

Man. Some tough choices this week. The only risk I took was Cincinnati losing. Another tough pick was Vikings vs Packers. I inevitably chose packers but I won’t be surprise if the Viking’s great defense squeezes out a win.

I was genuinely excited to watch the Browns play this season. So believe me when I say It was so crushing to watch in real time just how overrated they are. The first time I give into the hype of any football team in 20 years and I’m reminded why I never get emotionally invested in teams. They are a young, stupid team that will continue to shoot themselves in the foot with penalties. At times they looked like a bunch of misbehaving middle school students fighting and bickering over petty stuff. They must have a very low threshold of tolerance if the Titans can get under their skin through trash talk alone. Both offensive and defensive lines of the Browns collapsed. I don’t even blame Mayfield for his bad 4th quarter.

Sounds like Rogers is going to see a lot of waves when he is on the road this year...

Damn the Panthers look terrible. I thought they were going to be all right after keeping it close against LA.
