OK, I have a low profile 256 MB Geforce 8600GT over clocked to 630/1480 MHz. Where would you put its performance for this game according to the graphical requirements?

I would put it at 7800gtx level of performance. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-cards,1805-6.html :)

Tease.

But I don't see how that tells me what the mother board is, unless you have some way to check what mother boards are compatible with that processor?

You're probably running AGP which is the old standard. So your selection of graphics cards would be a little limited until you upgraded your pc. Now if you want to upgrade on the REAL cheap, look at the build at tomshardware for $500 - new everything, so you could sell your system or keep it as an extra.

if your really curiou, visit here:

 http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

download the freeware known as CPU-Z. It tells you information about your main components including you mobo.

Those are some pretty low specs. The only console game I thought had stupid specs was Assassins Creed. And other than Crysis no PC games have had crazy specs. I will totally get Mass effect when it comes out on PC.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Assassin's Creed specs really aren't that high either.

This may come as a shock to some people, but the hardware difference between PCs and consoles is still quite large.

Well the goal isn't to know the exact model of your motherboard but to figure out what memory standard it uses.  Your CPU socket type can help narrow this down, as well as the age of the CPU in general.

As for CPU-Z it is one of the better options for figuring it out through software but again I want to caution you that these things can have viruses.  If you make sure you get it from a trusted site you should be fine...assuming your trust is well founded.

To Each Man, Responsibility

Also, I wouldn't point to ports from the 360 when talking about high or low PC requirements...Assassin's Creed is pretty high I'd say, because Ubisoft sucks at porting to the PC.

Games made ground up for the PC are the best to use for requirement arguments...though Mass Effect does look pretty reasonable here.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I quick thought on Mass Effect PC, does anyone know if it will come with the downloadable content that the 360 saw?

nevermind, just found the other thread about it

@cwbys21,
