When sales starts to decline they will. No point at the moment if they are still shifting 10+ million in 6 months though... That would be silly.

I've never played it either, and have to admit that part of that is due to the refuse-like graphics, which looked like a big heap of trash 10 years ago. Stinky garbage.

I also don't even own it. Was close to owning it on the Vita, and almost paid for it at the till when I noticed the "physical copy" was just a download code in a box. And that's fair game on the graphics, which are a mound of claptrap.

I can't imagine the billions this generates is not worth going exclusive.

Instead rely on like fifteen AAA games to push a console. Minecraft could fund all of them.

More stuff? You can add and play on servers that literally can have an infinite amount of stuff...

Honestly for next generation they should add vr support for the console versions that's all.

I am not asserting that is it going to happen. Just a "thought" experiment.

Best looking game? Not entirely. Arguably it can look better than even that image.
That Ray Tracing is a mod that is not available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android and not baked into the actual game... And in-fact that image uses several mods.

Plus the game has a plethora of limitations from the 7th gen PC/Console era, CPU's have become significantly better not just in single threaded performance... But in terms of overall core counts that are yet to be taken advantage of.

I would be keen for a Minecraft 2. I would still be keen for a Minecraft 1 on next-gen hardware.

Understood, but Minecraft is one of those IPs that seems to thrive on every platform it has touched.

The only other IP I think that could do that as well is Mario. So it does beg the question how much could Xbox consoles benefit making the IP exclusive. However, when you have an IP that can thrive anywhere (home consoles, portable consoles, smart devices), going exclusive seems like a bad move. Especially when the Xbox brand is technically already multiplat.

Ofcourse it can that is why I linked digital foundry's video that should explain why it is one of the best looking games, it does things with the visuals that we haven't seen yet. If you buy the console/phone versions you will get limitations.  On PC it would take you 800 years to work from spawn to the edge of the world. (812 year to be exact) that's impossible on consoles because how more you load new chuncks in the game how bigger the save file gets and consoles have limitations how big the save file may be. If you would cover all of the MC world on pc one save file could be Petabytes.  Improving the vanilla version will literally make the game unplayable for tens of millions of people on pc that's why they keep the simple visuals and give you the options to improve it yourself. 

There is already a new minecraft version  available called Bedrock version. Available on current gen platforms + Mobile but except the PS4. It includes the new Marketplace which allows other devs outside the company to place their work where both MS and them gets $$$$. 

Yeah I bought it on PC and Wii U. And just recently with the discount on the Switch.
