Forums - Sony - Did GT5P save the PS3?

I think it did. After the 360 price drop in Europe, 360 went up to what 85 000?

I think if it wasnt fro gt5p most of the hardware sales for ps3 wouldve went to 360

Um... if 360 didn't drop the price that could have meant that the Ps3 would have gotten a higher boost. So i think what you are looking for is "Did the price drop save the 360 from complete annihilation" and to that I would have to say yes.

what the hell are you talking about

i dont remember the ps3 suffering in Others. On the other hand, gt5p didnt save ps3 in Japan.

PSrock is correct, if there is anywhere that the PS3 needs a savior it's Japan. I don't think you could call GT5P a savior because it just made the already good Others sales a little better. While it was a nice boost, it didn't really save the PS3.

Are we talking Europe only here? Only in the UK for Europe, GT5p was nicely timed...or 360 price drop was badly timed, either way in the UK it did, in mainland Europe the 360 is lagging behind the PS3 and Wii and the price drop only gave it a few extra thousand. Consider the majority of 'Others' sales for 360 are made up from only 2 of the regions, UK and Other. They total above 60% of 360 sales each week nearly.

But then, generally, no I don't think the price drop did anything other then the people who wanted one getting one sooner. The more expensive PS3 was already outselling it. People want what they want, not which is cheapest when it comes to games consoles.

Hmm, pie.

No. People just dont want the 360. People are realizing its not the same. The 360 has just lost its momentum. It never really had much momentum other than when Halo 3 came out. It only looked good because the PS3 was doing so bad.

Not the 360 is looking horrible because it doesn't have bad PS3 sales to make it look better. It failed to capture the PS3's major exclusives (other than GTA). The 360 price drop saved it's image. The PS3 is going strong regardless all year long, so unless the price keeps dropping well continue to see the 360 perform the worst.

Well partially yes . At least it managed to maintain PS3 numbers above 360 numbers in Others . In Japan on the other hand ...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Not much thought behind you post op.

If not for GT5p hardware would have went even for a week or two then 360 would have once again dropped under PS3 sales.

With out the cut 360 would have become irrelevant in Europe, GT5p would have done that.
