could gt5 prologue keep the momentum going so ps3 hits 12 million or not. if sony achieve this they will have hit another milestone and be in a strong position to market the crap out of gta iv

Yeah , it will pass the 12th million mark by then , and thats a pretty big deal . If GTA4 boosts sales , than we could see 14 million PS3s at the launch of MGS4 , and that would help a lot :)

It will be hard to sell 2 million before MGS4 but I think they will reach it by July.

I think 12 million before GTA4 is a sure bet but i'm not too sure if it will be possible to get 2 million more untill MGS4... I mean it is possible but not probable :P

I think there is a VERY GOOD chance of reaching 14M by MGS4... GTAIV should boost sales a bit and PS3 is currently selling at 196k/week (average for first 14 weeks of year).

So we have 9 weeks before MGS... that would be 1,764,000 at the current rate but I expect GTAIV to give PS3 a good enough boost to reach the 2.2M it needs to break 14M.

Then, by 06.12.2008, MGS4 comes out and the PS3 will enjoy the bigest game related sales boost ever.

Too bad we will have to wait until September for SOCOM:Confrontation and LBP for the next big boost.

2 million in six weeks?

That's 333k per week.

I think 1.5 mil between GTAIV and MGS4 is realistic.

 Actually, it's 9 "VGChartz reporting" weeks from now to MGS4.

PS3 should be at 12.10 to 12.15M the week before GTA4 launches, so the question is if it can sell around 1.9M in 7 weeks, which is an average of around 270k per week. Personally this seems pretty high, especially for a period of 7 weeks. I'm sure the weeks of GTA4 and MGS4 launches could get there, but the real problem will be the weeks in between.
