Forums - Sales - MGS4 and Final Fantasy xiii japan. ps3 saviour or not?

No.........no...............NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Only Dragon Quest!!!! With the sales 2-3 million in 1 week, it will help PS3 sell through at least 1 million in a week!!
If there is a bundle edition, I will say 1.5 million!

Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses

"Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation," Quotes from Sony’s CFO Nobuyuki Oneda.

What your missing is the fact that Japan normally picks just one console and sticks to it. They have made their choice for this generation.

PSP says hi.  Anything can happen.  One year ago, PSP looked like it was doomed there, getting outsold by the DS 6:1.

And one year later it's still doomed there with non-existant software sales outside of monster Hunter. I guess the one platform rule still applies when the other isn't being bought for games.

 200$ handheld =/= 400 $ console.

We don't know that. The stark differences between consoles this gen makes it incomparable to any generation past. The GameCube was nothing more than a slightly more powerful ps2 with far less games, thus it did poorly. The ps3, however, won't have a shortage of third party support (due to developers either going Wii or ps3/360), and the type of games found on the system are generally quite different from those on the Wii (presentation vs gameplay). And then there are the ps3's other uses (media center, Blu-Ray). As the price drops, it's not unreasonable to think that many former single-console gamers may go dual-console by picking up a ps3 in addition to a Wii, as the ps3 offers many things that the Wii simply cannot (and vice-versa).

And then there's the PSP phenomenon, though owning two handhelds isn't quite the same as owning two consoles, so it's not quite the same.

thats what i was thinking azwell. adsactly the same i was just about to argue this point, but it seems like you beat me to it lol
