Immigration and border security is a key issue. The Sri Lankan bombings, showed to the world that security must be tightened to prevent tragedy like that occurring again. When you strengthen borders, increase security and crack down on immigration you help create a safer society. United Australia Party and One Nation will get plenty of votes at this election.

One Nation is a joke. Their popularity has tanked since they tried to sell Australia out to the American Gun Lobby. (Deservedly so.)

Australia has one of the toughest borders in the world... And for good reason... Pauline's uneducated constant whine about migrants is simply unjustified scare mongering to garner votes to solidify her own position in the Government.

Clive Palmer who heads the United Australia Party cannot even pay the workers he employs... Says everything about his convictions.

In short, these are minor party's, neither will be running the country, they can only influence a couple of key issues from the Liberals or Labor and that is about it.

I'd take Pauline over Palmer. He's been dealing with the "Chinese" whom he seems to be targeting this campaign very heavily for years. In fact, he's partnered with many of their larger mining companies and selling Australian resources to them.

Clive Palmer is a real dag... Sending out unsolicited SMS to everyone... Whilst claiming he will put a stop to unsolicited SMS's. The contradictions that individual has is pretty hilarious at every turn.

I have actually met Pauline while she was traveling South Australia just recently when she came to the Eyre Peninsula. She only "speaks her mind" when the cameras are rolling so she can score some political points with her voter base who like her opinionated rubbish.

Her rhetoric is very different in person otherwise... Nor did she actually give a flying crap about local issues here, it was all about her and what she can get out of her relatively low-key visit.

Not to mention I really cannot get behind her racist and homophobic views even if you paid me... All she does is just spreads fear, hate and division whilst being a science denier.

Although I dislike the greens and allot of their policies... They are probably going to score my vote this time around due to their stance of drilling in the Great Australian Bight... Myself being at the forefront of marine rescue in the area, it's the last thing I want in my backyard... Pick a better geographical location, not some of the worst seas in the world... I mean shit. Can't make this stuff up! I don't need rescue more work.

We really do need some fresh politicians and political parties in the Australian system, not just more far-right or far-left loonies either, but more center-orientated parties which have a far better policy balance from both political spectrum's... But I guess that's hoping for a miracle at this stage.

We're one day away from the big day now. Sent my postal vote off yesterday, can't wait for tomorrow to be over and hopefully the new government to be elected.

Sadly to hear of Bob Hawke's passing last night too, best Prime Minister this country ever had. Universal healthcare, a strong modern economy, kindness and multiculturalism, the country as it is today was all the work of his government. There are no pollies that could possibly measure up to him anymore sadly

Congratulations to the Liberal party. Bill and Labor had it won, but his lack of explaining his policies and just saying "everything will be alright" ended up costing him big.

Get up knocked out Tony but that ended up being a blessing to the Liberals as he was a burden constantly causing problems

It wasn't the lack of explaining it was that they told too much. Not many want to pay a carbon tax when we already get taxed to death here.

This election was similar to the infamous 1993 Federal election where John Hewson blew a huge lead and tried to introduce a 15% GST. It was easy to simply oppose the new tax and run a negative scare campaign. Good riddance Bill Shorten, an incompetent weak leader, a terrible policy platform that made no sense to average mug voter. It is the illiterate, uneducated bogans that decide elections in key marginal seats. Clive Palmers $60 million spent on political ads helped ensure Bill Shorten and Labor lost the election.

Australians rejected climate change policies in favour of the new Adani Coal mine in Queensland. Clive Palmer spent $60 million on political ads so he could get a new coal mine. Coal miner billionaire, Clive Palmer played a huge role in the win for the COALition and spending $60 million is a good investment that he will make back 10+ fold. The economy matters a lot more to people than saving the environment or climate change. North Queensland has an unemployment rate The Queensland State Labor government will get swept out of office big time in favour of a LNP Big Coal miner friendly government to rubber stamp the opening of the new Adani Coal mine. 

I honestly couldn't be more disappointed. A party that actually takes solid policy to an election can't win, obviously, all that matters is how dirty the smear campaign is.

Labor needs to put somebody more likable in the leadership, and an attack dog in as deputy. Spend the next three years associating the paedophile-supporters of the LNP with paedophiles, as well as focussing on their corruption, and attack the minuscule policy the LNP actually drums up. No policy talk until after the 2022 election; the media environment in this country won't allow it to survive
