Iv been gaming on my PC at 4k/60hz on my 55inch TV.. i was thinking of buying a monitor but not sure if going from 4k to 1440p is going to be a noticable difference in a downgrade.
I heard 1440p is a very good resolution from 1080p to 1440p.. but what if you are use to 4k going down to 1440p?

The jump is like going from 720P to 1080P... Which is because 2560x1440 (1440P) is 4x the resolution of 720P and 3840x2160 (4k) is 4x the resolution of 1080P,  so it's the exact same relative jump.

But whether you will notice a step down from 4k? Well. That depends on panel size, viewing distance, eye quality and so on.
On a 27" display, the difference between 1440P and 4k is probably not going to be as pronounced as a 55" TV that's for sure, all about the perceived pixels per inch though.

Thanks, I was looking at getting a Monitor around the 28inch mark. I will be sitting a lot closer to it since ill be moving my PC and using a PC desk. The bright side is if I go 1440p, that will free up some GPU power and can focus more on framerate since monitors have such better hertz compared to TVs.

28" @1440P is 104.9 Pixels Per Inch.

Contrast that with your 55" Television...
55" @2160P is 80.1 Pixels Per Inch.

A 21" @ 1080P monitor is also 104.9 Pixels Per Inch...

So in terms of pixel density, the 1440P monitor will beat the 55" television... The big variable is how far away you sit from said displays.

But 1440P is a good balance in my opinion, you don't need as much hardware grunt, so you can drive up the visual settings instead.

Also supporting 10 bit colors via 8 bit+ FRC dithering. I say it's a good deal for 200 €.

I don't understand aren't we at the 8/10K race now? or 12:9 race?

1080p is still the mainstream for monitors, you can see it in Amazon bestsellers https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Electronics-Computer-Monitors/zgbs/electronics/1292115011/ref=zg_bs_nav_e_2_541966

So that's where your elitist complex comes from.

Yes, everyone knows the N64 was superior to the GC pleb machine.
