Forums - Politics - Official 2020 US Election: Democratic Party Discussion

If Biden announced that he was adopting M4A and was committed to radically combate climate change (i.e. ending fossil fuel consumption entirely) I'd seriously consider voting for him but problem is that he'll never do it.

I'm confused. Is this a round-about way of saying you're just not going to vote?

Of course I'm going to vote.

Ok, is this a round-about way of saying you're voting for a candidate who's not viable and thus essentially throwing your vote away?

No, I'm basically voting down ballot Dem as I like my current Reps. Just not for the presidency, I find both "viable" candidates objectionable for different reasons. I let my voice be heard in the primary about who I wanted to be president, but most of the Democratic electorate thought otherwise. I'm completely fine with that, that's how democracy works, if they want Joe Biden good for them they can vote for him. And no, I don't wanna vote Green or third party as I don't like those candidates either.

Alright, I'd appreciate in the future if you were just honest when someone asked you a question. I think you knew what I meant when I asked if you were going to vote, no reason to be disingenuous, even if you're technically not lying, nonetheless it wasn't a good faith answer.

Whatever.

Don't ever pretend to care about social, economic or voting issues ever again, and don't pretend to care about the same issues Bernie does.

I don't know why you're being mean.. I answered you're questions honestly, even despite the unnecessary hostility coming from you.

I'd appreciate in the future for you to give clear detailed questions then if you don't understand someone. I took your questions in good faith, I guess that was my bad...

This is completely toxic and what I would consider flaming. You can't just mischaracterize an individual because your candidate is flawed and not garnering my vote.

Instead of attacking people who aren't completely on board, you should try to persuade them and/or pressure your candidate to be better.

What am I mischaracterizing?

As far as I'm concerned, your priorities are not helping as much people as possible.

I don't think you'd agree on "earning votes" if Biden voters were calling for Bernie to go to the center and make concessions to moderates if Bernie had been the nominee.

I have no doubt in my mind that Bernie would have compromised at least some issues in the general. That's part of politics, if he'd concede too much I'd be bummed but I'd still vote for him. You can't have everything, but you can come to the table with uncompromised policies and you'd start from there.

Also in my previous posts I criticized Bernie about not doing enough to earn votes in the primary so idk what you're on about.

?

Not really sure what you're talking about, I tried to word that as nicely as possible for the express purpose of not being inflammatory. I guess my questions before that were a little pointed but, that was only for the sake of being direct, and this was by far the tamest response, yet it's the one you took offense to. No idea why.

I think it's obviously a little disingenuous that, when someone questions a comment you make specifically about the presidential race, that they want an answer about that presidential race, and that you probably knew what you were doing by not replying in an upfront way until further questioned. Me pointing out that you could have been a little more direct is not really rude, especially when framed in the nicest way possible. It's a simple question given by a fellow Bernie fan, and supporter in the primary.

I took offense because in my mind I legitimately answered your questions and then you came at me sideways. It wasn't needed and I didn't appreciate it.

That's great! Biden has been compromising with the left in bankruptcy, college affordability, and so on, and it's not even May.
