Forums - Gaming Discussion - EA is not doing a press conference at EA Play this year, games will be shown on live streams instead

EA has nothing of value to show anyways

What big upcoming games does EA have anyway? A Dragon Age that's going to be neutered by both EA and Bioware? More Anthem expansions? FIFA?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

For the remainder of this year, they have:

-Star Wars: Jedi-Fallen Order

-A Titanfall game of some kind (which was announced when Apex Legends released)

-Need For Speed

-Yearly sports stuff (FIFA, Madden, NHL, NBA Live most likely)

So not that much, really. EA won't move Respawn too much from Apex not that's making money, so I don't expect another shooter to mantain from them. Need For Speed has been getting increasingly ignored by the public, and the lootboxes added to the last iteration did not help. Star Wars' fans won't easily forget BFII, and especially when they made very clear they are not really interested in single player games (plus general SW burnout after so much exploitation of the saga). And FIFA is FIFA, it's the same every year.

Yeah, what they said about the Titanfall game made me think that it is not Titanfall 3, but something much smaller, maybe a VR game.

As for Jedi- Fallen Order, it is actually a singleplayer game. It was directed by Stig Asmussen, the director of God of War 3, and written by Chris Avellone, the writer of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Fallout: New Vegas.

Just you wait, this single player SW game will eventually become a multiplayer-first game in one way or another to justify the microtransactions. It's the how that we don't know yet.

Really to me, this just means that companies are gearing up for next gen. In particular a company like EA that has a pretty limited set of games (though they have been expanding through their publishing) doesn't really have a reason to attend.

Good move, in my opinion.

Conferenes tend to be very tricky and and it's very easy to bore your audience unless done well, and EA didn't do it well enough the other years. Replacing it with trailers and live streams is a change in the good direction from them.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Please spend the money $$$ on game-development, or give them the proper time needed. Make Games Great Again...please.

Actually, we do now...a closer is brought in to tear the game down into a minimum viable product.

Here's the video explaining the process...credit goes to another VGChartz member for sharing the info.  [will have to remember them and add, edit here, sorry for now]

Very informative and educational.  Worth the watch.

One less conference, not that I'm eager for this year E3. New gen is coming but won't be show this year.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

The only thing they possibly have that interests me is the C&C remaster and even then I'm looking at another year or two of waiting. I don't trust EA with the SW license and with Apex legends, I don't really see Respawn crafting a fully fledged SP campaign in such short time.
