Forums - PC - 399 USD for a Mac Clone? I smell lawsuit

http://apple.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/04/14/1919237&from=rss

A company called Psystar is offering PCs with Mac OSX preinstalled for 399 (+150 for Leopard). Is this a precident that will open up the Apple platform, or is this a matter of time before the Apple comes with its legal wrath?

I doubt apple will allow their OS to be used on non trusted hardware. What if it turned out to be less stable that windows and made them look bad?

yeah, I'm sure apple will squash this quickly. Unless that was their plan all along. Switch to Intel so they could make PCMacs.

They should switch to better security if that's their plan.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Indeed, I smell a retaliation by apple.

Well it wouldn't exactly be theft since people would be buying leopard. for the purchaser it wouldn't be violating the EULA either but the manufacturer maybe. The thing is you may see a lawsuit and then see apple make a very very sweet settlement offer. With apples growing size and business practices they may not want to have their business practices on this end so heavily scrutinized.

You used to be able to get legal Mac clones, way back when. That was a pile of epic fail.

That boom you just heard was Apple's hypersonic legal commando team being deployed to Psystar HQ.
