well that's what happens when you have delusional social justice warriors leaping at every faint opportunity to virtue signal by presenting even the most innocuous of situations as racism, or sexism, or classism or whatever ism eventually the minorities become more sensitive to interactions with majorities and the majorities become more and more suspicious and resentful of the minorities since both sides feel growing tension between them

this is not only a race issue but occurring  with men and women, for example

Have any of you ever been the "victim" of projected racism? I used to work part-time at a Home Depot when I was younger and you wouldnt believe how many times I met a black person who would think I was being racist.

I remember one time I was looking for a specific bolt for an online order. I happen to have bad eyesight so I usually get close to the shelves trying to find stuff. This black guy just so happened to be standing right in front of the bolt  area and I innocently get close and stand next to him to look. Well it seems I was invading his personal space or something because after a minute or 2 the guy starts laughing and talking to himself and then he start telling me how he knows what I am doing and that he doesnt have to deal with this etc... Long story short the guy thought I was some sort of store police and was keeping tabs on him. Even after I left he still believed that I was undercover or something.

Another time I am looking for merchandise all over the store and it just happens that I am going the same way as this black lady that was on her phone. Well after a bit she turns around and starts laughing and saying to the person on her cellphone that I am following her and that I think she is going to steal something or whatnot, and I just look at her and laugh as well and keep walking because I really didnt know what to say, she sounded so sure of herself.

Anyways this stuff happened to me all the time. Its crazy to me how black people think they are being monitored or watched all the time. I wonder if its because it happens to them all the time and how many of those times is it actually true.

Sounds like the person in home depot was up to something and his own conscience was convicting him.

Why does he have to be up to something? I'd be like "WTF?" too if an employee was in my personal space without excusing himself or explaining why.

It's not just minorities, people are hyper sensitive these days full stop.

That's true. But it generally seems to resolve around sensitivity on behalf of minorities. Even our extreme political correctness as it were, mostly relates to the words and behaviors that we can and cant exhibit towards minorities.

Actually people who aren't minorities are super sensitive as well these days. Everything not to their liking is chalked up to someone being an "SJW", "snowflake", "race baiter", etc;

Is this something you witness in your day to day life? Or through the very media many with your viewpoints say is biased anyway?

Been a victim of projected racism and actual racism. Been called a cracker multiple times, once because I "didn't know how to speak spanish".

Try not to think about this stuff because it seems to hold people back but OP's story reminded me of it.

Particularly now, people are overly sensitive/defensive, but some of my experiences was 4 to 5 years ago. I think if you're looking for it, you'll see an approximation of it everywhere.

That's totally different. Those people are upset about the politically correct behavior of others to begin with.

I have never encountered that with minorities, they are normal everyday people.  Minorities are normal people just like everyone else they are not out to get anyone.

its becoming a more frequent trend in real life and its starting to affect political policy and company policy in a massive way

Buddy. You probably don't even remember the Myspace to Facebook trend, much less trends in racial discrimination or the struggle against it.

You are suspicious and resentful of growing tension? Really? I wonder how would you call the old days of lynching, race riots and apartheid. Peaceful and quiet, perhaps?

I've a suggestion to you pal. How about not spouting opinion of something you haven't, or at least haven't yet, experienced?

Let's begin with taxation, and actually working and paying taxes before calling it government theft or socialism, or whatever.

I've been in Canada for a year and a half now. Since it's Montreal and I'm "brown", I think I'm clear of the race wars that the minority of white and black people engage in, with the key word being minority. And I guess the people here are more mature than to assume "brown" people are terrorists, I'm free from that as well.
The only thing I find amusing is how people decide to contest with each other with their tribalism. If it's not black, white, brown or yellow(who chose that one for east Asians?), then it's English be french, or Irish Vs British, or Indian Vs Pakistani, or even smaller, and I'm sure most here won't get it, Baloch Vs Punjabi, or Notkani Vs Qaisrani.
People love to create groups and make sweeping overgeneralizations based on it. The problem is when you start basing merit or worth on it or start taking it seriously.
Like someone seriously believing all white people are privelleged and hate minorities. Or someone else thinking all black people are criminals and thugs.
The problem of being over sensitive might be a problem with an over sensitive person, or they might've just dealt with a lot of shit that day and are angry and go to the worst conclusions. The problem is you can't judge people based on anecdotal evidence and chance encounters. The best you can do is not get mad, maybe even smile or laugh about it and move on with your day. Or you CNA just clear the misunderstanding up and if they still don't believe it, then they might have some problem but again, you can't really do anything about it.
It is an interesting phenomena to observe in humans though.

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

When I worked at Gamestop some years ago, two black men asked to see a copy of Batman Begins. I looked through the drawer where we keep it, grabbed and gave them what I thought was Batman...turned out it was a game called Black. That was a bit awkward. Of all the games I could have wrongly grabbed...

lol, this feels like out of a sitcom

Well this is kinda of what I was getting at. This sort of stuff happens often to blacks because of racism plus the thug culture and bad image that they have built over the years. Yet I feel like its gotten to the point where they are seen "ghosts" where there aren't any. The main reason I brought this topic up was from watching a youtube video where this very nice looking black youth commented how he was treated like a n**** that morning by a white couple walking down the street. How the woman held her purse closer and the guy starting walking behind her when they passed him. I couldnt help but think back to my own experiences and think that it is completely normal for a guy to walk behind his lady, specially if she has a really nice butt, I do it all the time. I want to trust the guy and believe his racist experience but another part of me is thinking maybe this guy is making racism out of everything.

My point is that it seems racism has consumed some minorities to the point where they link it with every part of their life. And I feel like a lot of those instances it is all up in their heads.

On a side note I have had cops pull out guns on me for putting my hands in my pocket to turn off my Ipod, not something you want to experience I will say. I was around 15 years old when it happened.

Have you ever asked yourself why they suspected racism?  Perhaps it's because it usually is.  So forgive them if they made a bad presumption.  Majorities have given them a reason to be suspicious of it.  You would too if you were one of them.

So it's not so much projected racism but presumed racism.

This is my point, you say it usually is, I say it is not that often. Does it happen? Yes of course. But not nearly as much as they believe. If you ask one of these minorities pretty much everything that happens to them is because of racism. That white dude doesnt like me? He must be racist. That girl doesnt want to go out with me? She is probably a little racist, etc.....  I feel like this is a very harmful way to look at the world. It feels like they are putting themselves down all the time.
