However with your own post, you just proved why these numbers are very useful. You can compare U4 to GoW and to Horizon. The error is the same for all of these games, so the relation between them is 100% correct. It doesn't matter how much each of them sold (in absolute numbers) but you can still determine if something sold better or worse based on the difference in player count. But again we have VGC for retail data, so indies is where it's getting interesting or games that have been on PSPlus to see how popular they are.

Not to forget that bad games hardly you'll have 3 people loaning to play, while great games can have it either for them to know the game and buy themselves or because they can't buy.
