I can't speak emphatically on the 3DS or new 3DS. But I a very sure abut the GBC though.

And yes nintendo still considered it the same platform.... but because something shares the same name doesn't make it the same platform the second it starts having its own exclusives.

It remains to be seen how nintendo will play it. But I don't see them supporting a cheaper NS and a more expensive NS+. Especially when we are likely to see a $199 NS about a year before we see a $299 NS+. I also expect them to make that version support the use of 4g data and whatnot. Its what I would do and how I would play it if I were them.

They could easily sell another 30M of the NS+ at $299 then drop the price later too..... all the while keeping the "Switch" moniker going loner than a typical 6yr cycle. Especially when you consider that considering its form factor there will be very little to differentiate it from a more powerful successor.

I agree about GBC, it honestly should have been a different generation due to the huge amount of exclusives it had but New 3DS was just a few so I would argue strongly against it being a separate generation.

I dont see why they wouldnt support both a $199 Switch Mini & $299 Switch Plus at the same time.

They supported a $129 2DS & $199 New 3DS XL at the same time.

Sony is supporting a $299 PS4 Slim & $399 PS4 Pro at the same time.

Microsoft is supporting a $299 Xbox One S & $499 Xbox One X at the same time.

Well for me GBA (or GBC), DSi and N3DS are type of new gens as what defines a gen is a stronger HW with games that can't be played on the older one. But considering the percentage and same name, and now we having the PS4Pro and X1X that doesn't have exclusives. For uniformity we could just call then mid-gen refreshes.

I just want to say that Shadow reminds me of TheSource in early VGChatz days. Their dedication to these charts are unparalleled.
Thank you for doing this every month even though you're not getting the recognition you deserve. I personally do love and enjoy them.

Well I would say Shadow is very much respected and recognized in here.

That is dollar sales, not units.

"Nintendo Switch outsold the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in terms of dollar sales"

A little misleading, I know.

Would not that mean the Switch sold quite a bit more, unit-wise, given it costs the least?

No, because PS4 and XboxOne was $199 during black friday week. Switch made the most money, but PS4 sold the most units.

Switch made the most revenue. Without knowing profit margin of each we don't know who really made more money. Profit wise considering the deals it's quite possible that PS+ and XBL made more profits in the money than their HW sales.

So did PS4 won in units sold or no ?

Yes.

Thanks.

The Xbox One is the biggest winner, looks like. The PS4 will take 2018 globally. IMO.

Technically, the NS is the biggest winner. If yu compare the YOY improvements

Mario Odyssey didn't even crack top 20, but Just Dance 19, did? That's really surprising to see...

Never underestimate the power of Just Dance. Every time I think the franchise is dead, it keeps on selling

Yeah, but… Mario Odyssey!

I see switch winning next month since there isn't a 199 spider man bundle anymore and who knows, maybe xb1 gets second place with the $100 off

Reading this it sounds like PS4 "won" NPD.
More importantly it makes the 24th month - two years - that Xbox has "won" an NPD.
With the last one being November of 2016.

I find that interesting because I would have guessed(and probably did actually) that wouldn't happen. I expected the switch and ps4 to "steal" from each other having so many niche(ish) games in common. Instead it seems they actually are amplifying each other.

Instead of splitting the vote so to speak, they are multiplying each other. Instead of say going from 1.00 to .75, they are instead both at 1.25. Or at least that is how it feels.

I just didn't see that happening.

Yes, so far it doesn't seem like they are competing for the same costumers.
