Awesome numbers, congrats game freak. Though if 2019 game doesnt do better than this I suspect the series will take a turn for the worse.

I don't see why next year's Pokémon game wouldn't do better than Let's Go. It's what hardcore fans really want. Besides, the install base will be higher than it is right now by the time it's out.

Really good sales but not too much so they don't drop the mainline series or try to make it more casual.
Althought this will be huge this holiday season. Gen 8, if it's elaborate enough, could beat S/M record easily imo even if it only comes out next year (?)

The best part of this for Nintendois that a lot of people who consider themselves to be “gamers” did not buy at launch while many children would have not have been able to afford it. Now that word-of-mouth and reviews seem to be good the game(s) should have a long tail.

Well this is god of war we're talking about. Before this gen it wouldn't be in the same stratosphere as Pokémon in terms of sales. 

Wasn't downplaying Pokémon just a funny coincidence both Sony and Nintendo launched an exclusive this year to practically the exact same numbers.
