Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart Wii Problems?

Nintendo dismissed all reports of Mario Kart Wii errors today, stating the game is single-layer and not prone to the issues that plagued Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Are Japanese disc read errors giving Mario Kart Wii a flat?

Nintendo summarily dismissed any and all rumors about Mario Kart Wii errors today, saying that the game is a single-layer disc and was therefore not affected by the crashes that plagued Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Several sites, including Eurogamer, GoNintendo and GameFront (German site), reported over the weekend that Japanese copies of Mario Kart Wii were causing loading issues and even system crashes.

This morning Nintendo reps said there were no such reports filed with it in Japan, Europe or otherwise, and that Mario Kart Wii is only available on a single-layered disc.

Numerous people reporting to have problems with SSBB. I wonder if there will be problems with Mario Kart wii as this article implies? Obviously Nintendo denies it.

This problem is reported on Kotaku.

Bashcraft says that there are very few reports, contrary to when the problem is actually real and there are hundreds of reports.

The game is single layered.

In other words, to believe that this is a real issue is to believe one of two things:

A. The software itself is somehow incompatible with the Wii in a few cases, such as with a certain firmware version.

B. The discs are somehow defective.

No, this simply isn't the case.

With every new game, some copies won't work, or your Wii will just choose that time to break down as a coincidence.

This happened a few times in Japan, those few people reported it, and because of the Brawl scare, some people are worried about their Wiis.

What the truth is, is this problem doesn't exist, or Nintendo would be aware of it. It's that simple. 99.99 percent chance that this story will die, and we won't hear anything else about it.

This won't even be as widespread as the Brawl issue, and is pissed me off on Kotaku when everyone bandwagon jumped to act like the Wii was in the same league as RRoD because of this. Those disgusting posters make this site look like the kingdom of heaven.

Anyway, at this point, it just seems like Brawl worry to me. Doubt it's real. Give it a 99.9 percent chance of being non-existant and coincidence. That's how certain I am. I'd bet my car that MK:Wii will work on my console, so there really is no worry about this for me, lol.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

It just goes to show you how a problem as small and non-widespread as Brawl can stigmatize your console.

Much less something the size of RRoD.

...because even if RRoD had been fake, is sure as hell cost 360 a huge volume of sales this gen.

One little error, and people never forget it. Being in the public eye, running for president, putting out gaming consoles. It's a tough business.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Eh so if I'm right the game can just crash your entire WII? I have Brawl but haven't played it yet...

maybe those errors occur coincidentallly when u play MK Wii. I doubt its' MK wii's fault.

I'm seriously considering canceling the reservation. Don't feel like to be the unlucky one and have a disc which totally screws up my WII. I have no warranty (import).

In other news, numerous people have problems with plumbing. It is reported that several European and Japanese homeowners have had plumbing problems in the last few days.

Sarcasm aside, there are always going to be a few problems when you have hundreds of thousands (possibly more than a million) people playing a game. That doesn't mean we should immediately start spreading FUD about it, especially when the game has only been out for a few days and no one can know how prevalent those issues are.

@Onna76: I suppose "crashing the Wii" doesn't mean bricking it, probably just the console freezing and needing a reset. I didn't see anyone saying the game broke their Wii.

Still, I'd rather wait with buying until I've heard enough about it, its save to buy the game. In my case... import. If I'm having a game which is defective I can't exchange it either.

mine worked fine, I also have several mates whose work fine but they're all online - as Zen said about the firmware update, mine did require a firmware update before it could be used so perhaps thats something to do with the issue.
